Re: 4 Metastasizing Government Plots Which Strip Away Your Liberty and Rights It's not inherently new, especially in the 21st Century, for central government forces and their private-sector cronies to be hell bent on stealing the rights guaranteed under our Constitution... ...what IS new is how the feds, states, and local governments are melding into a unified apparatus to get the job done. Today, I want to spell out four Big Government schemes which were all born under the guise of providing security in America. The problem is that they're so over-reaching and grant so much power, with little to no oversight, they may grease the rails toward tyranny. In order for these schemes to work, they need either a working partnership between the feds and state or local government or for state or local governments to bless the feds' actions by looking the other way. Neither is in the best interests of free American citizens, of course. FBI Facial Recognition: A Foothold to American Biometric Branding Since 2011, the FBI has teamed up with Michigan, Hawaii, Maryland, and other states to field test its new $1 billion Next Generation Identification (NGI) facial recognition system. The states upload mug shots and photos to the system, and when it's rolled out nationwide in 2014, New Scientist believes it could match a single face out of "1.6 million mug shots/passport photos with 92% accuracy, in 1.2 seconds." Facial recognition is just one small piece of the system's purpose. According to the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF), the NGI is the FBI's clearinghouse for all biometric data including: "fingerprints, iris scans, palm prints, facial recognition, and extensive biographical data collected from over 100 million Americans." The database will cross-reference, tag, search, and combine all the data into individual files for each American. Effectively, this would be the country's first nationwide biometric database, the Real ID Act on steroids (the federal law that imposed standardize state-issued drivers' licenses). Open Records requests by the EFF found government may also want powers to "permit photo submissions independent of arrests." In other words, even if you're not suspected of a crime, are a law-abiding citizen, and mind your own business, photos from your Facebook account, the DMV, your passport, etc. could wind up in this database. Sponsored Message from Independent Living ============================= Defend your privacy at all costs ============================= What's worse, this system has the ability to behave like an automatic license-plate reader, but on your face. FBI wants to allow the system to automatically sweep a crowd in public, or an online collection of faces like on Facebook, and positively identify individuals. Aerial Drones: Designed to Track and Kill Enemies Overseas, Now Flying over America... In January 2012, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorized 106 federal, state, and local government entities to fly aerial drones inside U.S. borders. In quick lockstep, Virginia governor Bob McDonnell said he wanted drones to patrol Virginia, because they're used "on the battlefield." The Huffington Post quotes McDonnell saying, "if drones keep police officers safe and save money, using them was 'absolutely the right thing to do.'" No mention by the governor of your privacy rights or constitutional protection against unreasonable searches. Aerial Drone We should always be suspicious when free-spending politicians claim money savings as a reason to do something! For instance, warrantless searches by government "aircraft overhead to make sure we are not doing anything it disapproves of," says Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). "Already the Environmental Protection Agency uses drone surveillance to spy on farmers and ranchers to see if they are in compliance with regulations." The FAA committed $4 million dollars to speed up the certification process to allow even more drones in American airspace. But safety and money savings are not the main drivers; crony-capitalism and the surveillance industrial complex are pushing for it. "This is one of the few areas where the government is still spending money and investing," said First Street Research analyst Alex Bronstein-Moffly in the Huffington Post. "Lobbyists are pushing on legislation, regulations, and appropriations... 'This is the trifecta of lobbying.'" TSA: The Shakedown Authority On the U.S. government travel website, ustravel.gov, you are asked to "Lend Your Voice on Travel Screening." In essence, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is testing public tolerance of new freedom-destroying inspections. They ask you to tell them: What's currently working in the air travel security screening process? What's not working? How can the current screening process be improved? What are your personal experiences with the air travel security screening process? One question that's missing: "Should we shut down the TSA and replace it with professional, private, and competitively priced security firms that won't trample the Constitution, are accountable to the public, and can be fired or punished when they do a poor job or mistreat travelers?" TSA apologists say the agency is doing its job, and we should just grin and bear it. But allowing warrantless search and seizure by government goons is a terrible habit to form. Behind the bright royal blue shirts is a real and creeping threat of tyranny. TSA Patdown Last year, the Texas legislature, after listening to its constituents complain about TSA manhandling, took steps to protect its citizens by drawing up a law to bar TSA from conducting invasive searches. The Texas Tribune reported, "House Bill 1937, which was passed by the House earlier this month, would make it a misdemeanor offense for a federal security agent to 'intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly [touch the private areas] of the other person, including touching through clothing, or touching the other person in a manner that would be offensive to a reasonable person.'" The bill passed the state House unanimously. But before the state senate voted for passage, the TSA threatened Texas. If the law passed, TSA would shut down all airports in the state. Texas backed down and withdrew the popular bill! (So I guess it IS possible to "mess with Texas" after all.) As a sign of Big Government growth, the TSA now routinely wanders outside of airports. They have shown up at Greyhound stations, Amtrak stations, city subways and buses, ferries, and highways. They also pop up in areas that have nothing to do with transportation, like the Democratic and Republican Conventions, both of which already had extensive Secret Service and local police protection. NSA's All-Seeing Eye, All-Hearing Ear, All-Knowing Data Center By 2013, the NSA's $2 billion Utah Data Center will be up and running. Its mission? Eavesdrop on the world's communication as it travels through the air or through cables. This eavesdropping includes "complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails–parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital 'pocket litter,'" says Wired Magazine. According to their report, one of its most critical features is breaking encrypted security codes so it can spy on "financial information, stock transactions, business deals, foreign military and diplomatic secrets, legal documents, confidential personal communications..."

"Yet the ultimate problem for the president is not so much what he did or didn’t say; it’s that he gave us a glimpse of the man that Republicans have always claimed him to be: the arrogant liberal poseur who looks down his nose at the rest of us. More than all the videos in which Obama uses racial incitement or talks down individual initiative, the real danger is that on the big stage of the first debate, he came across as less likeable. The stuffy, long-winded bore we saw in Denver is not the historic figure that inspired millions with his messianic promises of hope and change." ~~ The other issue is that Liberals so extremely cloister themselves from alternative (sic: real world) information, and thus always dismiss real world arguments as being presented by a stupid, hateful putz that they never develop counter arguments to any debate. The only liberal discussion about Romney we have heard thus far is that he is a heartless brainless idiot who bumbled his way into astronomical wealth, accidentally saved the Olympics, and stupidly got elected Governor of America's second most liberal state. Well, libs.... our "idiot" really out smarted your IDIOT! Get used to it! SD

Shell-shocked Democrats are still trying to figure out what happened to President Obama last night as he got his clock cleaned by Mitt Romney. Most of the post-mortems seemed to center on his lack of aggressiveness on stage and his failure to raise the sort of personal attacks on Romney that have la...

more madness out of the jewish talmud Sodomy in the synagogue From a report published in the Hebrew language Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz "...for many years, (Talmud scribe) Yaakov Yitzhak Brizel...sodomized ultra-Orthodox boys. The greatest rabbis knew - and did nothing... "At the age of 11, Moisheleh, the strongest fellow in the talmud torah (school for ultra-Orthodox boys), went up to Shaiya Brizel and said to him: 'Kid, I want you know that your father is not the holy man you think he is. He is a homo.' ...Brizel was a scion of the Brizel family, which founded ...the mysterious organization that imposes moral order on the ultra-Orthodox ghetto... "Had the father, Yaakov Yitzhak Brizel ...contented himself with homosexual relations with adults, it is reasonable to suppose that we would never have heard his son's story. "However, in his book, The Silence of the Ultra-Orthodox, published a few weeks ago, the son claims that for decades his father ...sodomized yeshiva students. He committed the act in empty synagogues during the hours between prayers and in other places. "The greatest of the ultra-Orthodox rabbis...like Rabbi Landau and the halachic sage Shmuel Halevi Hausner of Bnei Brak, knew and kept silent. The father was a Hasid heart and soul, and went to a number of rebbes.... the twin brother of the rebbe from Rehovot, the Rebbe of Kretschnif in Kiryat Gat, was happy to accept the father among his followers. Ultimately, claims Brizel, it was not easy for the Rebbe from Kiryat Gat to be picky when he could win such a respected adherent. "...The proud father with the look of an honored rebbe, who observed all the commandments from the slightest to the most important, used to pray at a certain yeshiva with the young boys. There, claims Shaiya Brizel, he hunted his victims. When the head of the yeshiva discovered the true reason that the respected Torah scribe was praying fervently at his yeshiva, he did not contact the police... "Before the publication of his book, Shaiya Brizel met with the yeshiva head. 'You are right that we covered up for him,' admitted the man. 'I and a few other rabbis...I was busy trying to calm things down and hushing up the affair so that it would not get publicized.' "(The son) published the book using real names. His entire family and almost all the rabbis appear under their own names. Only the names of some of the localities and the head of the yeshiva are disguised. To protect himself from a legal point of view, Brizel held a series of conversations with members of his family and rabbis, in which he demanded explanations of why they had covered up for his father's misbehavior. He secretly recorded all these conversations, even with his mother. "If I had written without the names it would have been fiction and this certainly did not suit me," he explained. 'I wanted things to change, for ultra-Orthodox society to know that it can attempt to hide things and be hidden, but even if it takes 30 years, a Golem will always rise up against its creator and reveal everything. In this case, I was the Golem.' "When Rachel Brizel, the daughter of a good Bnei Brak family, married an arranged match from the glorious Brizel family, she had no idea that she was destroying her own life. After six months, she caught her husband having sex with another man. In that case, at least it was with an adult. "Shaiya Brizel relates that some of the boys with whom his father had relations sent letters of complaint to their own fathers; in the discreet ultra-Orthodox society they had no one else to whom they could complain. Shaiya Brizel: author of a book telling of sodomy in the synagogue "When she read these letters, my mother went out of her mind,' writes Brizel. 'Every such letter made her want to demand a divorce. Again and again batteries of mediators, the Brizel rabbis, would show up, whose job it was to calm her down so that, heaven forbid, she would not destroy the good name of the Brizel family. "They could live with the fact that one of their own had raped minors, but for them divorce was an impossible situation.' "...Twice, once during prayers in a synagogue, and once during a Gemara (Talmud) study hour at Rabbi Eliezer Shach's Ponevezh Yeshiva, ultra-Orthodox men who were strangers to him touched his sexual organ, presumably on the assumption that he followed in his father's footsteps. The first time, he made a fuss, only to discover that the only thing that interested the people there was to hush the whole thing up. The second time, he made do with a whispered warning to the man. "Shaiya Brizel is now 36 and the father of three; he works as an accountant. "His father, 65, was forced to leave home several years ago and return to his elderly parents' apartment. Shaiya wrote this book after a suicide attempt in June. 'For all those years I was half dead. For the past five years I have been getting psychological treatment. During my talks with the psychologist I decided that I was going to spew out all this ugliness in the form of a book.' "He took into account that there would be violent reactions to the book...which only came out a few weeks ago...Brizel suffers from a serious heart defect, which could cause his death. As a way of protecting himself, he has deposited a letter with three lawyers that contains serious allegations about the Eda Haredit, and he has informed the relevant people. "Recently, he has moved to a new apartment, and he lives in the National Religious sector of a mixed community of National Religious and ultra-Orthodox families. Naturally, he started praying at the only Hasidic synagogue in the settlement. After the book came out, associates of the local rebbe (rabbi) informed him that he was persona non grata. "Ironically, this same rebbe had come to the area after being compelled to leave several other communities on suspicion of having sodomized his pupils. In ultra-Orthodox society, revealing that acts of sodomy have been committed is a far graver offense than committing them. "On the day the book was published, Brizel met with the head of the Hachemei Lublin Yeshiva, Rabbi Avraham Vazner. 'He told me that publishing the book was a million times worse than what my father had done...' "Ha'aretz has been unable to obtain a response from Rabbi Yaakov Yitzhak Brizel. At his parents' home, a woman replied: "We don't care. Shaiya is a liar and there is nothing more to be said." "Ha'aretz also requested the Brizels' response through the Eda Haredit activist Yehuda Meshi- Zahav. By the time the article went to press, there was no response through this channel either. "Several weeks ago the father responded to the women's magazine La'isha, saying that he would sue the publishers, which has not yet happened. It is unlikely that it will happen. "Shaiya Brizel was ready to put off publication of the book, on condition that the family sue him in a rabbinical court, in which the affair would be aired. He has said that no one in the family was prepared to take up the challenge. "In the conversation with La'isha, the father said that he was indeed a homosexual, 'But I have had treatment and today I am no longer like that. All this is behind me.' "In reply to a question as to whether he had sexual relations with minors, he replied: 'Perhaps I will talk about that some other time.' He accused his son Shaiya of being 'the only one who is after me. He has destroyed my life...He wrote this only for the money. He wanted money from me...Because of him I separated from my wife.' "Shaiya's sister, Rivka Hubert, spoke with great anger to the La'isha reporter about the fact that her brother had revealed the names of the persons involved, and declared: 'We deny everything it says in the book." My dream last night.. and this isn't even all of it. I'm sitting in what seems to be a old broken down two story house. The paint is pealing, hard wood floor fading. I'm holding my only key to life, an AK47 with six magazines strapped to my black hawk vest. I don't know why I am in this house I only know my motive. Kill or be killed. There is eight rounds, eight different people, eight different playing grounds, and a three minute time limit. Should anyone not be killed in this eight minute time limit "they" kill everybody. I don't even know who "they" are or how I even got here or how I even know all this. Why should I kill for someone I don't know? Well probably because they're gonna hunt me down anyways right? Fuck it. I got up from my corner immediately after hearing the buzzer sound that indicated I have five seconds to get everything locked and loaded, literally. I was ready. Not to kill, to die. The final tone of the counter sounded, warning us only three more seconds were left, then bing, a red light on my gun had turned green. It has began. Instantly I could hear scrambling in the room above. It was like someone had dropped their seeing glasses on the floor, scrambling on hands and knees just to find them. As I'm following this noise I walk through two side by side push doors that where collected with bloody hand prints that lead to a kitchen filled with every kind of knife you could imagine. Finally the noise settles, as if they just sat down and gave up. I then thought to myself "I hope this works" as I raise my AK starting to slowly point it where the last noise was heard and firing a half mag into the ceiling. Hearing my shots go off did nothing to me. I felt programmed to do this. No emotion once so ever, even as I find myself starting to get showered from the blood that's seeping through the bullet holes of the floors above. I Then proceed to bring the weapon back to my eyes to look down sights. Slowly I begin to walk towards the back portion of the house. Taking each step as if it was my last. Checking every nook and cranny of this moldy dead house. I then reach the back door. Opening up the door to this covered patio I see two men in their early twenties standing in front of a ammo box about 40 yards down the patio talking to each other as if they had formed some kind of alliance. They then look at me as if they knew I was there the whole time then raise their weapons and before they fired I quickly jumped back through the door, hearing pitter patters coming towards me on the hardwood patio outside I know they were after me. I start running back through the house, my heart pumping so hard I feel as if its going to come out of my chest. That actually sounds pretty good right now. Just have a simple heart attack and everything would be over. Anyways, I begin to push through the two side by side push doors only to run into the biggest man I have ever seen in my life. Wearing a wife beater and holding a sickle in his left hand. He was also emotionless, jaw dropped, eyes wide. He then raises his arm and slashes towards my throat. I lift my left arm to block this motion to only barely succeed. I mean barely as in my throat is still slowing getting cut. Just before I am about to give up I grab for my AK hanging on by the straps sitting on the right side of my waist and pop one into his right foot. The biggest man I have ever seen is now screaming like a banshee while holding onto his right foot. Not forgetting about the two men behind me I quickly jump over the man and keep running towards the front of the house. I see the stairs that the person I shot before had to have used. Before running up the stairs I look back to the man that was in excruciating pain just to see the two man chasing me brutally decapitate him by his own sickle. I then run up the stairs hoping they didn't see me and walk into the room where my first victim lied. Just a 15 year old girl face down holding her glass'. When they say "kill or be killed" in that case I would have rather been killed. After staring at this body for what seemed like a lifetime I jump back to reality, hearing the men stomp their way up the stairs I slam the door shut and push a old dresser that looked like it was from the 50's in the way hoping it could keep the door shut. Looking around for a way out I think "wow I'm fucked". No window, no second door, only me, and a dead girl. We know you're in there! followed by pounds on the door and evil laughter. I slowly back myself into a corner and fire the last shots of my magazine into the door while reaching for a new mag they say "Okay you wanna play hardball? We'll play hard ball" followed by a slamming sound on the door and a high pitched beep. I go to reload and notice that the mag is empty. Then I realize they give you extra mags but it's your job to get the ammo to fill them. That's why those two men were on that ammo box like flies on shit. After sitting for 5 seconds and accepting that I'm dead the door explodes into splinters with some sticking into my face. It was a breaching explosive they had slammed and activated on the door. While in shock as if someone through a flash bang right into my lap the two men appear to walk through the smoke as it starts settling. I can only make out laughter and nine words "what should we do with him? Just shoot him". Watching the barrel of the AR15 rise to my forehead I begin to close my eyes and feel at ease that its all over. Then nothing happened? I open my left eye just to see the man smirking at me and saying "bye bye" then bing. The light on his AR had turned red. A young girls voice came over the intercom of the rundown house and stated "This session is over, survivors congratulations" The man began dry firing the AR. I giggled and just laid down on my side just to be screamed at by this man and bashed in the face with the but of an AR.

CAMPAIGN 2012 Romney After NAACP: If You Want More ‘Free Stuff’ Vote for Obama Share on facebookShare on twitterShare on emailMore Sharing Services By Jonathan Miller Updated: July 12, 2012 | 7:05 a.m. July 12, 2012 | 6:34 a.m. On the same day that Mitt Romney was booed during his speech before the NAACP for saying he would repeal Obama’s health care initiative, he chastised those who support the law for simply wanting “free stuff” from the government, BuzzFeed reported. “I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy -- more free stuff," he said at a fundraiser in Montana on Wednesday night. "But don't forget nothing is really free.” Referencing his NAACP speech, Romney said that he did not alter his message according to his audience. "When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare they weren't happy," he said, adding that, "That's ok, I want people to know what I stand for and if I don't stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that's just fine." Romney has used the “free stuff” line before, as New York magazine reports, including a comment to a young woman on the issue of birth control: "If you're looking for free stuff you don't have to pay for, vote for the other guy. That's what he's all about."

Tips for Fathers with daughters.. my new bucket list 1. Love her mom. Treat her mother with respect, honor, and a big heaping spoonful of public displays of affection. When she grows up, the odds are good she’ll fall in love with and marry someone who treats her much like you treated her mother. Good or bad, that’s just the way it is. I’d prefer good. 2. Always be there. Quality time doesn’t happen without quantity time. Hang out together for no other reason than just to be in each other’s presence. Be genuinely interested in the things that interest her. She needs her dad to be involved in her life at every stage. Don’t just sit idly by while she add years to her… add life to her years. 3. Save the day. She’ll grow up looking for a hero. It might as well be you. She’ll need you to come through for her over and over again throughout her life. Rise to the occasion. Red cape and blue tights optional. 4. Savor every moment you have together. Today she’s crawling around the house in diapers, tomorrow you’re handing her the keys to the car, and before you know it, you’re walking her down the aisle. Some day soon, hanging out with her old man won’t be the bees knees anymore. Life happens pretty fast. You better cherish it while you can. 5. Pray for her. Regularly. Passionately. Continually. 6. Buy her a glove and teach her to throw a baseball. Make her proud to throw like a girl… a girl with a wicked slider. 7. She will fight with her mother. Choose sides wisely. 8. Go ahead. Buy her those pearls. 9. Of course you look silly playing peek-a-boo. You should play anyway. 10. Enjoy the wonder of bath time. 11. There will come a day when she asks for a puppy. Don’t over think it. At least one time in her life, just say, “Yes.” 12. It’s never too early to start teaching her about money. She will still probably suck you dry as a teenager… and on her wedding day. 13. Make pancakes in the shape of her age for breakfast on her birthday. In a pinch, donuts with pink sprinkles and a candle will suffice. 14. Buy her a pair of Chucks as soon as she starts walking. She won’t always want to wear matching shoes with her old man. 15. Dance with her. Start when she’s a little girl or even when she’s a baby. Don’t wait ‘til her wedding day. 16. Take her fishing. She will probably squirm more than the worm on your hook. That’s OK. 17. Learn to say no. She may pitch a fit today, but someday you’ll both be glad you stuck to your guns. 18. Tell her she’s beautiful. Say it over and over again. Someday an animated movie or “beauty” magazine will try to convince her otherwise. 19. Teach her to change a flat. A tire without air need not be a major panic inducing event in her life. She’ll still call you crying the first time it happens. 20. Take her camping. Immerse her in the great outdoors. Watch her eyes fill with wonder the first time she sees the beauty of wide open spaces. Leave the iPod at home. 21. Let her hold the wheel. She will always remember when daddy let her drive. 22. She’s as smart as any boy. Make sure she knows that. 23. When she learns to give kisses, she will want to plant them all over your face. Encourage this practice. 24. Knowing how to eat sunflower seeds correctly will not help her get into a good college. Teach her anyway. 25. Letting her ride on your shoulders is pure magic. Do it now while you have a strong back and she’s still tiny. 26. It is in her nature to make music. It’s up to you to introduce her to the joy of socks on a wooden floor. 27. If there’s a splash park near your home, take her there often. She will be drawn to the water like a duck to a puddle. 28. She will eagerly await your return home from work in the evenings. Don’t be late. 29. If her mom enrolls her in swim lessons, make sure you get in the pool too. Don’t be intimidated if there are no other dads there. It’s their loss. 30. Never miss her birthday. In ten years she won’t remember the present you gave her. She will remember if you weren’t there. 31. Teach her to roller skate. Watch her confidence soar. 32. Let her roll around in the grass. It’s good for her soul. It’s not bad for yours either. 33. Take her swimsuit shopping. Don’t be afraid to veto some of her choices, but resist the urge to buy her full-body beach pajamas. 34. Somewhere between the time she turns three and her sixth birthday, the odds are good that she will ask you to marry her. Let her down gently. 35. She’ll probably want to crawl in bed with you after a nightmare. This is a good thing. 36. Few things in life are more comforting to a crying little girl than her father’s hand. Never forget this. 37. Introduce her to the swings at your local park. She’ll squeal for you to push her higher and faster. Her definition of “higher and faster” is probably not the same as yours. Keep that in mind. 38. When she’s a bit older, your definition of higher and faster will be a lot closer to hers. When that day comes, go ahead… give it all you’ve got. 39. Holding her upside down by the legs while she giggles and screams uncontrollably is great for your biceps. WARNING: She has no concept of muscle fatigue. 40. She might ask you to buy her a pony on her birthday. Unless you live on a farm, do not buy her a pony on her birthday. It’s OK to rent one though. 41. Take it easy on the presents for her birthday and Christmas. Instead, give her the gift of experiences you can share together. 42. Let her know she can always come home. No matter what. 43. Remember, just like a butterfly, she too will spread her wings and fly some day. Enjoy her caterpillar years. 44. Write her a handwritten letter every year on her birthday. Give them to her when she goes off to college, becomes a mother herself, or when you think she needs them most. 45. Learn to trust her. Gradually give her more freedom as she gets older. She will rise to the expectations you set for her. 46. When in doubt, trust your heart. She already does. 47. When your teenage daughter is upset, learning when to engage and when to back off will add years to YOUR life. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how. 48. Ice cream covers over a multitude of sins. Know her favorite flavor. 49. Her first crush. This day is coming soon. There’s nothing you can do to be ready for it. The sooner you accept this fact, the easier it will be. 50. Today she’s walking down the driveway to get on the school bus. Tomorrow she’s going off to college. Don’t blink.

Isn't it strange how N500 seem like such a large amount when we give it as offering, but such a small amount when you go shopping? Isn't it strange how 2hrs seem so long when you're at place of worship, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie? Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're to make supplications to God, but you have no trouble thinking of what to gist about with a friend? Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Scriptures, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or magazine? Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts, film house or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in the holy gathering? Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in Paradise, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there? Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails, BBM,whatsapp, BC and they are forwarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others? IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT? Now that you've read this message, forward it to anybody that you consider a friend. lets beef up our spiritual life cos its very necessary.. I believe this will strengthen more than a soul. God bless.

More facts for Joseph E. Mettie and Richard Bynum, I know it's getting harder and harder for you to fine anything he said that might have been true but o'well a lier is a lier just ask Ron :) Fact-checkers and media outlets quickly seized on the statement, pointing out that “only three of 26 recipients of 1705 loan guarantees have filed for bankruptcy, with losses estimated at just over $600 million.” Time magazine’s Michael Grunwald said the Romney campaign confirmed to him that Romney’s assertion was inaccurate, tweeting: “ICYMI: Romney camp told me (after my tweet-rants) Mitt didn't mean to say half the #stimulus-funded green firms failed. the rAge 2012 radio ad The 10th annual rAge expo is spawning at the Coca-Cola Dome (Northgate) for a weekend of digital delights and bleeding-edge technological innovation. That’s right, we’re talking about computer gaming hardware, PlayStation games, Xbox games, Nintendo games, joysticks, liquid nitrogen cooled components and even a few rounds of sword fighting for good measure. If you’re a boy or girl, adult or kid at heart, or anything in-between, then the rAge expo is something you should experience at least once before you get too old and boring. Created by the people who bring you NAG magazine every month, rAge (short for really AWESOME gaming event), celebrates its tenth birthday in 2012 and is expecting record attendance in both exhibitors and visitors. The show, unlike others, isn’t just about trudging past rows of dreary stands while dodging annoying sales people; rAge is hands on. You get to play the latest games and touch the latest toys and gadgets while chatting to local experts in the field. The show now attracts international game developers who travel all the way to South Africa to show off and talk about their latest projects. Plenty to see and do Visitors to rAge also get to see, and sometimes play, preview (beta) game code months before it goes on sale in stores, and the patient few will even get to see behind closed doors game presentations – stuff so exclusive that it can’t be shown in public. If you’re looking for the latest innovations in gaming hardware, then rAge is the place to see them in action. Those with spare cash burning a hole are equally well catered for over the rAge weekend, as most retailers in the industry put together exciting and sometimes ridiculous special offers and sweet deals for bargain hunters. One of the more unusual attractions at rAge is the unbelievable 56 hour non-stop NAG LAN where 2,460 gamers will all connect their gaming rigs together for the largest LAN (local area network) in the southern hemisphere for the entire weekend. Tickets for the NAG LAN always sell out in hours and have become highly sought after for those looking for a weekend of gaming bliss. Visitors to the expo can see some of these hardcore fanatics on the show floor the whole weekend… but don’t worry if you have small children – we keep the gamers behind a fence and well fed on energy drinks and junk food. Besides all the obvious things you’d expect to see at a computer gaming expo, the show also features other gaming lifestyle staples such as comic books, figurines, anime, role playing, board games, creative arts and even competitive collectible card games. If you’re not convinced by now that rAge is something you simply have to experience, then it’s probably not for you. Sorry that you accidentally ended up on this website, go back to your ordinary life citizen. There’s nothing to see here.

1000000 people against illuminati 7 hours ago · Untimely Deaths of Famous People Who Mocked "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Here are some men and women who mocked God : John Lennon (Singer): Some years before, during an interview with an American Magazine, he said: "Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple. Today we are more famous than Him" (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times. Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died. Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During A show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: "God, that's for you." He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner. The man who built the Titanic: After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: "Not even God can sink it" The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic . Marilyn Monroe (Actress): She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: "I don't need your Jesus". A week later, she was found dead in her apartment . Bon Scott (Singer): The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: "Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell". On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit. Campinas (IN 2005) In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: "My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You." She responded: "Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here....It's Already Full " Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken. Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle. Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive. "Jesus" P.S: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to send this? I have done my part, Jesus said "If you are embarrassed about me, I will also be embarrassed about you before my father." Click like if u love Jesus and Write I LOVE U GOD if you will never mock God

Power Of Isatghfar! ►Astaghfirullah is the gateway of relief and happiness .. whenever you are in distress start reciting it and in shaa Allah it will take you out of your anxiety and will put you in a peaceful situation and will give you happiness In shaa Allah ►Istaghfar removes anxiety and duas are answered. ►Istaghfar opens the door of sustenance ►Istaghfar opens the door of mercy . ►Istaghfar opens the door of knowledge ►Istaghfar is also gateway of productivity ! ►Istaghfar relieves you .. when you feel that sadness within you ..when you are disturbed and frustrated ..when anxiety surrounds you ..say Astaghfirullah Astaghfirullah .. ►Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (peacebe upon him) said, "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.''[Abu Dawud]. ►Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) not only made himself 70 till 100 times a day Istighfar and Taubah, but as well enjoined the Muslims to ask Allah Ta’ala frequently for forgiveness. One of the many virtues of Istighfar, that can be found in Ahadith, is that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala deals with the person engaging much in Istighfar in a similar way like with the servant attaining Taqwa. ► Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas (radhiallahu anho) narrates that SayyidinaRasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “The one who (regularly) says Istighfaar, that is, frequently repent to Allah Ta’aala for sins committed, Allah ‘Azza Wa-Jalla will open a path from poverty and difficulties. All sorrow and hardship will be removed, and in its place prosperity and contentment granted. One will receive sustenance from unimagined and unexpected sources.” ►Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in another Hadith: “The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah Ta’aala twenty six or twenty five times every day, Allah Ta’ala will count that person among those whose Du’a is accepted, and through the barakah of whom those on earth gain rizq (sustenance). ►In one minute, you can say ''Astaghfiru Allaah'' (I seek forgiveness of Allaah) more than 100 times. The virtue of seeking forgiveness is well-known, it is a reason of obtaining forgiveness, entering Paradise, having good provisions, increasing one's strength, repelling harm, having affairs facilitated, the descent of rain, and increasing in wealth and children. ►Do Tasbih of Astaghfaar as much as youcan every time you free. Allah will count you among those whose duas are accepted and Rizq is abundant if you seek forgiveness to all Muslims. Do Tasbih of Astaghfaar 100 times daily as it is also theSunnah of Muhammad (peace be upon him). ►Reciting Astaghfiruallah is an effective method of calming our self and wipes away the variety of worldly worries from our mind and body. It may also help us, if we are suffering from depression, it calm us and lessen our depression. ►Astaghfirullah also helps us to refrain from all forms of sins. Regularly saying this reminds us that Allah is everywhere and in this way there is very small chances of doing wrongful actions. ►When you do something wrong, by onlyreciting Astaghfirullah, we can easily get forgiveness from Allah. We should also ask for forgiveness from the Almighty ALLAH for other people, in this way Allah not only forgives them but we might even get reward from ALLAH. ► The doors of repentance are always open therefore don't delay your repentance in a hope of tomorrow, as tomorrow is uncertain , REPENTnow ..and make it a habit to ask Allah's forgiveness atleast 100 times a day simply by reciting Astaghfirullah ("I seek forgiveness from Allah") , it hardly takes 1 min and please encourage others also In shaa Allah ►Say i believe in Allah's mercy ..yes i hv sin ..yes i hv gone astray .. yes i hv been negligent .. but still i believe in Allah's soothing mercy and forgiveness ..i'll not despair ! ►Do lots of Istaghfaar whenever you are stuck and thats the proven way! ►Do not despair from Allah's mercy no matter how critical a situation may seem ►When you are really stuck and you say to yourself this is it am gonna quit now ! just pray two rakah and ask Allah and beg Allah to guide you if its khair for you to continue it and opens the door for you and if its not khair for you then show you a way out of it in a good way ► Frequent the saying of Astaghfirullah. The Prophet used to say it 70-100 times a day. Don't only say it because of sin but because it keeps the heart pure and reminds us that we will one day be held accountable for all that we do, and shouldseek forgiveness before it's too late. ►One of the benefits of Istaghfar is increment in Children Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving;' He will send rain toyou in abundance;'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). [ Surah Nuh : 10-13 ] In these above verses we find that Hazrat Nuh ( May Allah be pleased with him )is addressing to his people, advising them toask forgiveness (Istaghfar) and describingthem the benefits of it So, make Istaghfar in abundance , and if Allah wills, He will bestow you with righteous children Ameen Summa Ameen ► This story about “Istighfar” This story about “Istighfar” is from the life of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, who is considered as a renowned scholar of Islam and a famous theologian. During his old age, while Imam Ahmed was travelling he stopped by a town. Afterthe prayers, he wanted to stay for the night in the masjid yard because he didn’t know anyone in the town. Owing to his humility, he hadn’t introduced himself to anyone thinking that if he did, he would be welcomed by many people. Failing to recognize Ahmed bin Hanbal, the caretaker of the mosque refused to let him stay in the mosque. As Imam Ahmed was quite old, the caretaker had to drag him out of the mosque. On seeing this, a baker from a nearby place felt pity for this man (Imam Ahmed) and offered to be the host to him for the night. During his stay with the baker, Imam Ahmed observed that the baker would constantly recite Istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah). Imam Ahmed asked the baker if the constant practice of saying Istighfar had any effect on him. The baker responded by telling Imam Ahmed that Allah had accepted all of his duas (supplications) , except one. When he asked him what dua was it that hadn’t been accepted, the baker replied that he had been asking Allah to provide him the privilege to meet the famous scholar Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal. On this, Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal said thatAllah had not only listened to his dua but had dragged him onto his (the baker’s) doorsteps. Icelanders who pelted parliament with rocks in 2009 demanding their leaders and bankers answer for the country’s economic and financial collapse are reaping the benefits of their anger. Since the end of 2008, the island’s banks have forgiven loans equivalent to 13 percent of gross domestic product, easing the debt burdens of more than a quarter of the population, according to a report published this month by the Icelandic Financial Services Association. “You could safely say that Iceland holds the world record in household debt relief,” said Lars Christensen, chief emerging markets economist at Danske Bank A/S in Copenhagen. “Iceland followed the textbook example of what is required in a crisis. Any economist would agree with that.” The island’s steps to resurrect itself since 2008, when its banks defaulted on $85 billion, are proving effective. Iceland’s economy will this year outgrow the euro area and the developed world on average, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development estimates. It costs about the same to insure against an Icelandic default as it does to guard against a credit event in Belgium. Most polls now show Icelanders don’t want to join the European Union, where the debt crisis is in its third year. The island’s households were helped by an agreement between the government and the banks, which are still partly controlled by the state, to forgive debt exceeding 110 percent of home values. On top of that, a Supreme Court ruling in June 2010 found loans indexed to foreign currencies were illegal, meaning households no longer need to cover krona losses. Crisis Lessons “The lesson to be learned from Iceland’s crisis is that if other countries think it’s necessary to write down debts, they should look at how successful the 110 percent agreement was here,” said Thorolfur Matthiasson, an economics professor at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, in an interview. “It’s the broadest agreement that’s been undertaken.” Without the relief, homeowners would have buckled under the weight of their loans after the ratio of debt to incomes surged to 240 percent in 2008, Matthiasson said. Iceland’s $13 billion economy, which shrank 6.7 percent in 2009, grew 2.9 percent last year and will expand 2.4 percent this year and next, the Paris-based OECD estimates. The euro area will grow 0.2 percent this year and the OECD area will expand 1.6 percent, according to November estimates. Housing, measured as a subcomponent in the consumer price index, is now only about 3 percent below values in September 2008, just before the collapse. Fitch Ratings last week raised Iceland to investment grade, with a stable outlook, and said the island’s “unorthodox crisis policy response has succeeded.” People Vs Markets Iceland’s approach to dealing with the meltdown has put the needs of its population ahead of the markets at every turn. Once it became clear back in October 2008 that the island’s banks were beyond saving, the government stepped in, ring-fenced the domestic accounts, and left international creditors in the lurch. The central bank imposed capital controls to halt the ensuing sell-off of the krona and new state-controlled banks were created from the remnants of the lenders that failed. Activists say the banks should go even further in their debt relief. Andrea J. Olafsdottir, chairman of the Icelandic Homes Coalition, said she doubts the numbers provided by the banks are reliable. “There are indications that some of the financial institutions in question haven’t lost a penny with the measures that they’ve undertaken,” she said. Fresh Demands According to Kristjan Kristjansson, a spokesman for Landsbankinn hf, the amount written off by the banks is probably larger than the 196.4 billion kronur ($1.6 billion) that the Financial Services Association estimates, since that figure only includes debt relief required by the courts or the government. “There are still a lot of people facing difficulties; at the same time there are a lot of people doing fine,” Kristjansson said. “It’s nearly impossible to say when enough is enough; alongside every measure that is taken, there are fresh demands for further action.” As a precursor to the global Occupy Wall Street movement and austerity protests across Europe, Icelanders took to the streets after the economic collapse in 2008. Protests escalated in early 2009, forcing police to use teargas to disperse crowds throwing rocks at parliament and the offices of then Prime Minister Geir Haarde. Parliament is still deciding whether to press ahead with an indictment that was brought against him in September 2009 for his role in the crisis. A new coalition, led by Social Democrat Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir, was voted into office in early 2009. The authorities are now investigating most of the main protagonists of the banking meltdown. Legal Aftermath Iceland’s special prosecutor has said it may indict as many as 90 people, while more than 200, including the former chief executives at the three biggest banks, face criminal charges. Larus Welding, the former CEO of Glitnir Bank hf, once Iceland’s second biggest, was indicted in December for granting illegal loans and is now waiting to stand trial. The former CEO of Landsbanki Islands hf, Sigurjon Arnason, has endured stints of solitary confinement as his criminal investigation continues. That compares with the U.S., where no top bank executives have faced criminal prosecution for their roles in the subprime mortgage meltdown. The Securities and Exchange Commission said last year it had sanctioned 39 senior officers for conduct related to the housing market meltdown. The U.S. subprime crisis sent home prices plunging 33 percent from a 2006 peak. While households there don’t face the same degree of debt relief as that pushed through in Iceland, President Barack Obama this month proposed plans to expand loan modifications, including some principal reductions. According to Christensen at Danske Bank, “the bottom line is that if households are insolvent, then the banks just have to go along with it, regardless of the interests of the banks.” By Omar R. Valdimarsson Icelandic Anger Brings Debt Forgiveness in Best Recovery Story To contact the reporter on this story: Omar R. Valdimarsson in Reykjavik valdimarsson@bloomberg.net. To contact the editor responsible for this story: Jonas Bergman at jbergman@bloomberg.net If only we could get the American people and the US government to follow the Icelandic example, we would have a chance at economic recovery too. However, as long as we follow the advice of banksters who are trying to save their sorry asses, we are doomed to economic collapse! Can you now see why the Icelandic Revolution wasn't televised? This was THE last thing the bankers wnated you to see (who, by the way, own almost all of America's media outlets, from TV and radio stations, cable companies, Internet providers and newspaper and magazine publishers) was a revolution against THEM! We need to dismantle the Federal Reserve and prosecute each and every banker responsible for the mess we're in! These two actions alone would do wonders for our economy, our morale and our national self-esteem! And yes, there is such a thing, because we are feeling the effects of a low sense of self-esteem now. ~ Tom R.

Just yesterday I was saying to someone nothing ever happens in our neighborhood but this afternoon there were tons of cops some wearing body armor and others carrying weapons. BCTV was there and will no doubt show footage later when the official word is out. I have put up a few more pictures at the magazine. This has something to do with the retreat, and while an ambulance was present it seemed like a person was taken away in a police car.

Suddenly there were 20 cops in our quiet neighborhood http://www.vermontviews.org/vermontviews.org/Welcome.html

The Gutter Culture. That misguided, brainwashed subculture that promotes evils through distorted imitation of the evil, more dominant culture it is subjected to. It develops as a result of Cultural Stockholm Syndrome, where a loss of one's own culture through a process of mental enslavement on the part of the oppressor leads a group to form a seemingly unique cultural identity that is but a distorted imitation of dominant cultural memes. One can see examples of this gutter culture in the so-called African-American community when you watch BET-better known as Black Exploitation Television; when one walks down the street of the so-called hood; when one reads in a magazine or on the Internet articles about "Black Love" and lifestyle among Blacks in the West; when one sees 75-90% naked women shaking their ass on television for money; when one hears Black people praising the virtues of light skin and "good hair"; when one hears songs that cannot get beyond the theme of "money, hoes, and clothes" or "money, power, respect"; when Blacks succumb to nationalism and start taking excessive pride in their false belief that they are "American" or any other nationality for that matter; when Blacks start believing in the politics of the West, believing in purposely undefined "Western" ideals such as "democracy" and "liberty". Just as the controlled prisoner is the one who does not know there are prison bars, the easily controlled slave is the one who believes he is free. But the most easily controlled prisoner is the one who, because he does not know, loves the shackles.

WAS ISLAM SPREAD BY THE SWORD? Ans: Mahatma Gandhi, statement published in “Young India”, 1924: “I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an Undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind…I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that Won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the second volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of that great life.” ISLAM—CIVILISED SPAIN AND IS ANSWER TO TODAY’S SOCIAL DILEMMA: Mahatma Gandhi, in his inimitable style. Says, “Some-one has said that Europeans in South Africa dread the advent of Islam--- Islam, that civilized Spain; Islam, that took the torch of light to Morocco and preached to the world the Gospel of Brotherhood . The Europeans of South Africa dread the advent of Islam, as they claim equality with The white races. They may well dread it. If Brotherhood is a Sin, if is equality of the colored races that they dread, then their dread is well-founded.” ISLAM FASTEST GROWING RELIGION IN THE WORLD: Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984. An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam? Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe. Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers? According to the U.S News Channels: After the 9/11 nine months more than 34 thousand people accepted Islam. IN U.K 24000 people accepted Islam after 9/11. Why? If Islam is religion of violence why people accepting Islam? Thomas Carlyle. The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book “Heroes and Hero worship”, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: “The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can.” Sword of the Intellect. It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah Nahl, chapter 16 verse 125: “Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious.” [Al-Qur’an 16:125] Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson. Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, “People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (pbuh) was born”. East Coast of Africa. Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, “Which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa? 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians. Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian. More than 80% non-Muslims in India. The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India are non-Muslims. All these non- Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword. Indonesia and Malaysia. Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, “Which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?” Opinion of historian De Lacy O’Leary. The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book “Islam at the cross road” (Page 8): “History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myth that historians have ever repeated.” No compulsion in religion. With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse: “Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error” [Al-Qur’an 2:256]

Strategy for IAS-GS MAINS (Advanced- Unit Wise) by Ms. Rukmani Riar(IAS TOPER 2ND RANK) Like ths>G.K (IAS/KAS) She has scored exceedingly well in GS (311 marks) How to prepare for GS? General Studies is the most crucial paper of CSE. With the news taking rounds thatUPSC is planning to do away with the optionals the importance of GS has increased manifold. Newspaper the best friend! First and foremost reading a newspaper (I read Hindu) is the starting point. Now the question is how to read the paper. Initially one must spend 45 minutes to one hour on the paper. With time the duration can come down to half an hour. The national news, international news and the economy sections of the paper must not be ignored. One can choose to make notes from the paper daily and keep the editorials which can help immensely to answer essay, bilateral and international sections with ease and efficiency. As science and technology section of UPSC is very unpredictable therefore newspaper will be most handy means to answer this section. One more point to be kept in mind is that not to stop reading the paper at any time of the preparation, as this helps the aspirants to write up-to-date answers which will give them that extra edge needed to clear the exam with eminence. The notes made from the newspaper must be revised at least 2-3 times before the prelims and editorials be read once before the mains. You can separate the editorials subject wise (if they are on topics in optional syllabus) which will make the revision more organised. Monthly Magazines: After the newspaper, reading of two magazines is a must. I recommend you to pick from Pritiyogita Darpan (PD), Competition wizard and Civil services times. The special editions of these magazines are very helpful in attempting the CSE. For example the economy edition of PD, Geography and history special of wizard are very comprehensive and detailed.Yojna and Kurukshetra should be selected edition wise, if the topic is very contemporary or useful for the optionals, as the entire magazine is on one topic so magazines like these need not be read in entirety and only two articles can be selected to prepare oneself adequately on the topic of that edition. Some of the yojna issues last year on rural development, urban migration, Agriculture helped me immensely for my optionals and GS. When magazines are read it’s advisable to mark on the outset the points for P.T and the sections for Mains (you can use different pens or just write PT, Mains on the side) this will help in quicker revision at a later stage and help you to save very crucial time. Indian Polity: For Indian Polity I read D.D Basu along with bare act from P.M Bakshi. Each topic must be read along with the articles which makes the preparation more through. Indian Polity Wizard book (ALS Publication) is available in the market it can be consulted along with the books mentioned. Any news with regard to Indian polity (elections, political and democratic institutions) must be read on the internet to have more factual information for prelims and in depth analysis for the mains. (e.g from the last month news following questions need a clear understanding: should we move towards a presidential form of government?, what are the advantages of having parliamentary form of democracy, when was lokpal bill first introduced what is its composition as proposed by government at present? Details of Electoral College for Indian President’s elections). Indian History: For history I recommend NCERT books (6th to 12th) for ancient, medieval and Morden sections. The modern history is most important from the point of view of CSE hence it requires additional effort. You can refer to wizard book on Modern History or General Studies manual (Tata McGraw) for the same. Apart from this solving previous year question papers and expected questions must be practiced to give oneself a fair idea about the level of preparation. For Indian culture any book can be picked up which covers Indian festivals, art and literature forms, Architecture, poetry, literature and drama history of India. Geography: In Indian geography section, physiology, drainage, population, location of all scientific institutions, mineral distribution, industries, environment, ecology and wildlife, energy need special emphasis. Energy chapter in India year book can be consulted to update the information if time permits. Industry must be studied from both geography and economy point of view. Ecology and wildlife is very crucial and hence must be updated regularly from the newspapers. Small maps in the atlas on soil types, scientific institutions, mineral deposits etc can be looked at to memorise easily. For general geography and world geography the same wizard book on geography will be more than sufficient. Special editions on these topics are published in Competition Wizard magazine which can be helpful for quick revision (only for prelims). Any place which is in news should be looked up on the map to understand its exact location and surrounding areas. Indian Economy: Indian economy needs special emphasis. I recommend reading a basic book for clearing the concepts (for those of non-economic background), it could be 12th level economics book. These concepts need to be regularly updated from the economic sections of newspapers and magazines. The fundamentals need to be clear and for that one should make a list of all basic terms of economics that one comes across on daily basis and discuss with teachers or friends e.g what is the difference between FDI and FII or between fiscal deficit and revenue deficit. I also would recommend the CSE aspirants to read the following chapters in economic survey Social Security Agriculture Sciences For the prelims the order of preference must be biology > physics> chemistry. General Studies manual (tatamcgraw) serves the purpose or one can refer to 10thand 12th standard books of these subjects (ncert). Statistics: One must focus on statistics as they are sure shot marks in the mains. Statistics must not be ignored as they can make a difference of 50 marks to the final total. Bilateral and International relations The reason I have put this under a separate head is because for the mains bilateral and international relations form veryimportant part of GS paper 2, in which candidates tend to have a low score. It is important to keep all updates on this topic from the newspapers and monthly magazines. Towards the mains a special wizard book (mains special) comes out which I referred to update this section. Civil services times (magazine) constantly updates the development on this front which proved very useful. Also, this section must be prepared with a equal focus on factual information and its analytical part. (e.g. How are regional organisations impacting the geopolitical canvas of South Asia?) Science and technology Science and technology section is very vast and unpredictable. I would not advice non science students to spend too much time on this section. Whatever can be covered from newspapers should be done. Defence, environment, nuclear and space science are some important sections which need special emphasis. Is there a difference between mains and prelims preparation? Many have their own views on this question, but if you were to ask me, there isn’t much of a difference as one needs factual and analytical information for mains as well as the prelims. Based on my experience one should start GS preparation from the mains point of view at the onset (about 8 months prior to prelims). The detailed and exhaustive preparation for mains helps CSE candidates to become adequately prepared to tackle all kinds of questions in prelims. 2-3 months prior to the prelims ones focus for GS preparation should only be prelims, which includes fast repeated revisions, solving previous year questions or some test series available in the market, going back to the notes from the newspapers, re-reading the marked sections for PT in monthly magazines and practicing mathematics for CSAT . The last word! Revision is the key to score well in GS. I made a consistent effort to revise conventional GS at least 4 times before the mains, and also go back to newspaper notes and magazines (marked portions). When it comes to attempting the GS mains two things are important one, stick to the word limit and second attempt 250 plus in both the papers. LIKE THS PAGE>G.K (IAS/KAS) HIT LIKE TAG SHARE

WEDNESDAY, JUL 18, 2012 07:45 AM EDT Dark side of a Bain success A for-profit health company bought by Bain -- that Romney profits from -- has exploded in size and tales of neglect BY ART LEVINE 463 501 more TOPICS: 2012 ELECTIONS, BAIN CAPITAL, CRC, MITT ROMNEY Clockwise from top left: Brendan Blum, Sergey Blashchishen, Matthew Meyer and Lindsey Poteet. Aspen Education already faced a wrongful death lawsuit over Meyer when Bain and CRC Health Group bought the company in 2006. Six deaths since the takeover, including Blum, Blashchishen and Poteet, have generated either lawsuits or complaints of neglect. It seemed a world away from the executive suites of Bain Capital when Dana Blum, a recent widow living in Portland, Ore., made the fateful decision to send her son Brendan to Youth Care, a residential program for troubled teens located in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. Brendan, a 14-year-old boy with Asperger’s syndrome, had been extremely aggressive for years; he was even arrested a few times after attacking members of his family. Local therapists hadn’t helped, and six months after her husband died, Dana was frantically casting about for solutions. A consultation with UCLA’s neuropsychiatric unit convinced her that Youth Care’s therapeutic and educational program would finally make a difference. Four months into his stay there, Brendan had earned a reputation as a temper-prone student who tried to shirk his obligations. So on the afternoon of June 27, when he complained to medical staff that he felt very sick, as if something were “crawling around” in his stomach, his concerns were dismissed. After 11 p.m., he woke up, complaining of stomach pain, and defecated in his pants. The on-duty monitors took him to the Purple Room, a makeshift isolation room used to segregate misbehaving students. There, he suffered a long night of agony, howling in pain and repeatedly vomiting and soiling himself. According to court transcripts and police reports, the two poorly paid monitors on duty did little more than offer him water, Sprite and Pepto-Bismol. They never telephoned the on-call nurse and waited until nearly 2 a.m. to contact the on-call supervisor, only to leave a voicemail. There was little else they felt they could do — Youth Care’s protocol on emergency services meant they were too low on the totem pole to call 911 themselves. “They didn’t trust our judgment in emergency situations,” explains Josh Randall, a former Youth Care residential monitor, who wasn’t on duty that night. “If you’re working for $9.50 an hour on the graveyard shift, you don’t want to buck the system.” At any rate, the monitors had little expertise in how to respond — it was an entry-level job requiring only a GED, plus a CPR and safety course overseen by Youth Care itself. When the morning staff arrived at 7 a.m., they discovered Brendan facedown on the floor of the Purple Room, his body already stiff with rigor mortis. The state’s chief medical examiner later determined that Blum had died of a twisted-bowel infarction, which requires emergency surgical intervention. “It made me very angry that they couldn’t provide better emergency services for my son,” Dana Blum told the online magazine Momlogic. “I feel like he was murdered” — although, in fact, no court has ever found Aspen or its staffers guilty of murder. Blum, who, with the help of insurance and school district aid, paid Youth Care $15,000 a month to care for her son, made those remarks in 2009; she can no longer speak publicly about Brendan’s death, according to the terms of a settlement she reached last year in a wrongful death lawsuit against Youth Care and its parent company, Aspen Education. The failure at Youth Care was not due simply to the carelessness of a few workers — a point underscored when a Utah court found that the threshold needed to pursue criminal negligence charges against the two monitors in 2008 wasn’t met and the charges were dismissed. And it wasn’t the only example of alleged negligence or abuse at treatment centers for adult addicts and “troubled teens” that are owned by Aspen’s parent company, CRC Health Group, according to a Salon investigation based on government reports, court filings and official complaints by parents and employees, along with interviews with former clients and staff. Our investigation found previously unreported allegations of abuse and neglect in at least 10 CRC residential drug and teen care facilities across the country, including three I visited undercover in Utah and California. With rare exceptions, such incidents have largely escaped notice because the programs are, thanks to lax state regulations, largely unaccountable. Court documents and ex-staffers also allege that such incidents reflect, in part, a broader corporate culture at Aspen’s owner, CRC Health Group, a leading national chain of treatment centers. Lawsuits and critics have claimed that CRC prizes profits, and the avoidance of outside scrutiny, over the health and safety of its clients. (We sent specific questions on these basic allegations to CRC and owner Bain Capital. CRC would answer only general questions; Bain did not reply.) And CRC’s corporate culture, in turn, reflects the attitudes and financial imperatives of Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mitt Romney. (The Romney campaign also did not reply to written questions.) Bain is known for its relentless obsession with maximizing shareholder value and revenues. Indeed, this has become a talking point of late on the Romney campaign trail; he bragged to Fox in late May that “80 percent of them [Bain investments] grew their revenues.” CRC, a fast-growing company then in the lucrative field of drug treatment, was perhaps a natural fit when Bain acquired it for $720 million in 2006. In conversations with staff and patients who spent time at CRC facilities since the takeover, there are suggestions that the Bain approach has had its effects. “If you look at their daily profit numbers compared to what they charge,” Dana Blum said of CRC’s Aspen division in 2009, “it’s obscene.” That point, ironically enough, was underscored by the glowing reports in the trade press about its profitability. The purchase of CRC came seven years after Romney publicly announced his retirement as CEO of Bain Capital, where he had been in charge since its founding in 1984. But at the time of his departure, Romney worked out an arrangement to continue to share in Bain’s profits as a limited partner in the firm. Today, he is still an investor in 48 Bain accounts. Though he has refused to disclose their underlying assets, some information about them can be gleaned. For example, he has reported at least $300,000 to $1.2 million, if not more, in fluctuating annual earnings from Bain Capital VIII, the convoluted $3.5 billion array of related funds that owns both name-brand companies such as Dunkin’ Donuts and the lesser-known CRC Health Group. Most of these funds were made more attractive to privileged investors by being registered in the Cayman Islands tax haven. And Romney’s connections to CRC run even deeper: Of the three Bain managing partners who sit on CRC’s board, two, John Connaughton and Steven Barnes (with his wife), gave a total of half a million dollars to Restore Our Future, the super PAC supporting Romney. They also each donated the $2,500 maximum directly to his campaign. Bain takes over When Bain purchased CRC, it looked like an investment masterstroke. The company, founded in the mid-’90s with a single California treatment facility, the Camp Recovery Center, had quickly grown into the largest chain of for-profit drug and alcohol treatment services in the country, with $230 million in annual revenue. Under Bain’s guidance, its revenue has nearly doubled, to more than $450 million. CRC now serves 30,000 clients daily — mostly opiate addicts — at 140 facilities across 25 states. In the first five years after its acquisition, Bain had already extracted nearly $20 million in management-related fees from the chain, although Bain investors haven’t cashed in yet through dividends or an IPO. Bain’s purchase, a leveraged buyout, also saddled CRC with massive debt of well over $600 million. According to company executives and independent analysts, hands-on oversight of subsidiary companies is a hallmark of both Bain and CRC. Romney’s campaign literature boasts about Bain taking exactly this sort of direct role in helping to turn around failing companies. “Over the life of an investment, they have a strong management team willing to participate,” Sheryl Skolnick, an analyst with CRT Capital, a leading institutional brokerage firm, says of Bain. The CRC acquisition immediately made Bain owner of the largest collection of addiction treatment facilities in the nation. Unlike some Bain Capital acquisitions, which led to massive layoffs, the company’s approach with CRC was to boost revenues by gobbling up other treatment centers, raising fees, and expanding its client base through slick, aggressive marketing, while keeping staffing and other costs relatively low. But that rapid pace of acquisition couldn’t be sustained in the mostly small-scale drug treatment industry alone. So Bain Capital and CRC set their sights on an entirely new treatment arena: the multibillion-dollar “troubled teen” industry, a burgeoning field of mostly locally owned residential schools and wilderness programs then serving, nationwide, about 100,000 kids facing addiction or emotional or behavioral problems. One of CRC’s first acquisitions under Bain ownership was the Aspen Education Group. Founded in 1998 with about six schools, Aspen Education had expanded to 30 troubled-teen and weight-loss programs by 2006, including Youth Care of Utah. With Bain’s backing, CRC purchased Aspen for nearly $300 million in the fall of 2006. Less than a year later, Brendan Blum was dead. At the time of the CRC acquisition, Aspen already had a history of abuse allegations, including at least three lawsuits, and two known patient deaths, one by suicide. Featured on “Dr. Phil,” it grew out of schools inspired by the “tough-love” behavior-modification approach of the discredited Synanon program, which was eventually exposed as a cult. By 2006, Aspen was facing a wrongful death lawsuit, later settled, over an incident in 2004 in which a 14-year-old boy, Matthew Meyer, perished from heat stroke just eight days into his stay at its Lone Star Expeditions wilderness camp in Texas. Nevertheless, less than a year after Meyer died, NBC’s “Dateline” extolled Lone Star as part of a puff piece on Aspen’s success with overweight teens. As an Aspen press release boasted, the show told how a rebellious student who did a stint at Lone Star “returned a month later with a new outlook on life.” In October 2006, just nine months before Brendan Blum died and as Bain’s deal to purchase Aspen Education was being finalized, CRC received a far less upbeat assessment of Aspen’s services. Following some phone conversations, family therapist Elisabeth Feldman walked into CRC’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters to see Dr. Thomas Brady, a psychiatrist then serving as CRC’s chief medical officer, in order to confront him about a host of issues at Youth Care. She had stumbled upon the problems while trying to help her son’s former girlfriend, a teenage girl who had suffered what Feldman called “gross mistreatment” at Youth Care. Of particular concern to Feldman was a three-month delay before Youth Care hired a psychiatrist to assess the young woman’s deep depression and a failure to treat her Lyme disease. Feldman’s ultimately unsuccessful crusade to get the woman released had led her to seek the services of a Salt Lake City lawyer, Thomas Burton, who had settled two lawsuits against Aspen Education for fraud, neglect and abuse. Feldman had been part of Brady’s professional referral network for years, but this visit wasn’t congenial. Feldman presented Brady with a 100-page sheaf of legal and corporate documents — including her affidavit describing “brutish punishment and isolation” at Youth Care — about Aspen Education programs in order to help support her charges of abusive treatment and neglect. These claims included reportedly covering up the alleged sexual assault of a female student by an Aspen employee at Turn-About Ranch in Utah; the girl was later duct-taped and restrained by staff, a former employee, Toni Thayer, told Feldman, after writing complaints about abusive staff conduct to management, state regulators and the Garfield County sheriff in 2004 — but no sanctions followed. (Subsequently, a lawsuit filed in June 2012 charged that staffers at the ranch engaged in the “torture” of a 15-year-old girl in 2005.) According to Feldman, Brady said he wasn’t aware of any problems at Youth Care or Aspen Education and sought to mollify her about Bain’s pending purchase of Aspen: “I have to trust that Bain did their due diligence,” she recalls him saying. Dr. Brady confirmed, by email, that he spoke on the phone and met with Feldman, but said he has “no recollection” of making those remarks. And he insists that the documents she brought didn’t support her claims of mistreatment. Even so, he says he took her concerns seriously and that CRC and Aspen conducted a thorough review. “I came to the conclusion,” he said, “there was no merit to the accusations.” He remained as CRC’s medical director until May 2009 and said that although he encountered a few “untoward event” cases at Aspen during his time there, he saw no “pattern” of unsafe care. At any rate, Bain’s purchase of Aspen Education went ahead smoothly. When, months later, Feldman learned about Blum’s death, she was horrified to realize her warnings had had no effect. “For Bain and the big guys, nobody cared,” she says. “It was all about the money.” Questionable deaths When he died, Brendan Blum’s was the first publicly reported death due to apparent neglect in CRC’s 12-year history. But in the six years since Bain Capital acquired the company, there have been at least five more seemingly preventable deaths of patients at CRC’s residential programs. Since the Bain takeover, critics and former employees charge that corporate attitudes have too often emphasized cutting costs and limiting public scrutiny at the expense of safety and quality of care. These tendencies appear to have produced risky, potentially life-threatening practices — only a handful of which have drawn public attention. Several lawsuits have been filed against CRC over mistreatment of its clients, but the company has never acknowledged any wrongdoing and has kept confidential any damage payments arising from legal settlements. CRC is a significant player in the scandal-prone, decentralized field of residential teen treatment that has more than 1,000 scattered facilities; the firm has nearly 36 therapeutic schools, wilderness sites and weight-loss programs catering to youth. The latest lawsuit over CRC’s current practices was filed in January against CRC’s prestigious $40,000-a-month Sierra Tucson drug treatment center in Arizona, for the allegedly poor monitoring and treatment of what the lawsuit says was an obviously suicidal 71-year-old patient, Dr. Edward Litwack; the center’s own staff had assessed him as a “high” risk for suicide, requiring one-on-one supervision. He was reported missing last August, but it took two weeks for the staff to find his corpse on the grounds. Last October, after an investigation by Arizona regulators following Litwack’s disappearance found 42 major violations, the center was put on one-year probation. The regulators found that ill-trained monitors spent too much time patrolling on golf carts rather than actually interacting with patients. CRC had purchased Sierra Tucson in 2005 for $130 million as its “crown jewel” shortly before plans to sell CRC to Bain were announced. “Then the business side started controlling admissions,” says a former employee, who worked at Sierra Tucson before and after the CRC acquisition. “It doesn’t take a brain scientist to realize that if you reduce staff [in key programs] and add sicker patients, there’s going to be trouble.” With the addition of a new 44-bed lodge in 2007, staff at Sierra Tucson was stretched thin, former staffers say; by 2009, a state licensing office fined the facility for having insufficient staff to prevent high-risk patients from wandering off. Other incidents suggest a corporate culture that often downplayed safety and quality of care. In 2010, at least two drug treatment patients died at the overcrowded New Life Lodge in Burns, Tenn., according to wrongful death lawsuits and an investigative series in the Tennessean. According to an account in the Tennessean, based on public records and interviews with people at New Life Lodge, one of the patients, a 29-year-old mother named Lindsey Poteet, had come down with pneumonia and was drifting into unconsciousness when she was driven in a private van to a Nashville hospital 30 miles away. The journey was undertaken on orders of the facility’s medical director, although another hospital lay just eight miles down the road. Poteet stopped breathing en route and died the next day in Nashville. The other, Patrick Bryant, died on his 20th birthday just four days after being admitted to New Life; his mother alleges that he’d been misprescribed several medications and had been unresponsive for hours before being discovered by staff. A third patient, 18-year-old Savon Kinney, died last October just days after leaving New Life in a state of disorientation, his sister told the newspaper; his death sparked a state investigation. After the Tennessean series appeared last summer and fall, the state’s Department of Mental Health froze all new admissions to the facility. (It was finally allowed to admit a smaller number of new patients in early April.) One former patient, Malea Fox, who had befriended Poteet at New Life, told me that she called state Medicaid (also known as TennCare), the facility’s primary funder, to complain that the facility was far too overcrowded for personalized care. “All they [New Life] care about is making money,” she said. In 2009, the state of Oregon forced the closing of two teen programs run by Aspen Education. State investigators found nine cases of abuse and neglect at Mount Bachelor Academy in central Oregon, including incidents of “sexualized role play,” in which young patients were allegedly forced to do lap dances during therapy sessions. After Mount Bachelor and its director threatened costly lawsuits, the state’s Department of Human Services softened the language of the report; CRC claims the allegations were false (while also fighting $37 million in abuse lawsuits over the school’s pre-CRC practices). Even so, DHS “stands by our findings,” a spokesman says of the 2009 report. That same year, at SageWalk Wilderness School in Hampton, Ore., 16-year-old Sergey Blashchishen died of heatstroke on his very first school hike, in an incident eerily reminiscent of Matthew Meyer’s 2004 death in Texas. One morning in August, Blashchishen suited up in an 80-pound backpack; by afternoon, the heat had topped 80 degrees, and he was soon staggering, drifting off the trail, and complaining of dizziness and exhaustion. Staffers contended he was faking his symptoms and failed to call 911 until his pulse had stopped; that death is the focus of a negligent homicide investigation. To CRC officials, the lawsuits, criminal investigations and state sanctions all come in response to isolated events, aren’t “systemic,” and shouldn’t reflect on the dedication and quality of a large company serving 30,000 trouble-prone teens and substance abusers each day. The company declined to respond to a memo outlining allegations made by alumni, parents and former employees about questionable practices at specific programs, citing a legal requirement to protect patient confidentiality. But a public relations consultant, Robert Weiner, who works closely with CRC and its most prominent board member, Gen. Barry McCaffrey, President Bill Clinton’s drug czar, did respond in general terms in a phone interview: “The people you cited can whine all they want, but that’s just a bunch of specifics we can’t talk about compared to 30,000 people a day we’re making better lives for.” “In a human-run company there will be human errors in some cases,” he added. “But in other cases, it’s garbage.” In a December 2011 press release in response to the Tennessean series, CRC vice president Jonathan Ciampi disputed criticism of CRC over the reported deaths, citing positive surveys of parents and clients, and certification by government regulators and accrediting agencies. “Safety and quality are our highest priorities.” And in a conference call last fall for investors, CRC’s new CEO, Andrew Eckert, discounted the developments in Tennessee as merely “unwelcomed bumps in the road.” In fact, later in the call he claimed that “CRC is in the process of staking its ground as the definitive leader in clinical excellence.” Camp recovery: More patients, more revenue Such claims of excellence do not seem to have pierced the canopy of the Santa Cruz redwoods, home to Camp Recovery, the first drug treatment facility CRC purchased in the mid-’90s. Nestled on 25 hilly acres in Scotts Valley, Calif., Camp Recovery is an idyllic setting for recovery for as many as 70 adults and teens at a time. Yet after Bain purchased CRC in 2006, according to former employees, safety and quality eroded, while state agencies periodically reported increasingly more troublesome findings after 2006 regarding conditions at the camp. “It got progressively worse,” says Tom Corral, a counselor who was employed there before CRC bought Camp Recovery and worked there on occasion after the Bain takeover. Meanwhile, prices were steadily jacked up from about $6,000 a month to as high as $18,000. Under Bain ownership, Corral says, “they’ve been under a lot of pressure to cut costs, and they’ve been squeezed for profit.” What most alarmed Corral and other former employees was that ever sicker and more mentally disturbed patients kept being admitted. The governing view, Corral recalls, was, “You’ve got to keep them at all costs.” Camp Recovery is registered with the state as a nonmedical facility, and so patients needing intensive medical or psychiatric care should be referred elsewhere. But such restrictions soon collapsed, say former staffers, in a drive for profits. “Certified nurses were reprimanded when we complained to the intake office,” says one former nurse. “When I didn’t want to admit a person who was falling down drunk, they wrote me up.” Former staffers say that Camp Recovery’s business staff even began to pressure nurses to knowingly admit patients with potentially deadly MRSA infections, which, the CDC warns, may require treatment by an infectious disease specialist. Shawn Bottoroff, a former clinical technician who left Camp Recovery last year, said that when she started in 2007, nurses were primarily responsible for determining who was stable enough for admission. But they were soon overridden by camp administrators seeking to rope in more clients, Bottoroff and other former workers say. To Denise Murphy, a former director of the camp’s adolescent unit, the decline became especially noticeable in 2008, when a new executive director took over, Bobby Stearns, hand-picked by CRC, who was determined, according to complaints to the NLRB, to crush a unionization drive and keep down costs. “It was so dangerous there, they’re lucky they didn’t get sued,” Murphy says. According to complaints made by staff at the time to the now-reorganized California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, CRC cut back on everything from drug-testing kits to staffing levels. In a 2009 interview, Stearns said any staff cuts were due to declining patient numbers. But eventually, the Department of Social Services, which has oversight over the facility’s 17-bed adolescent unit, confirmed that caseloads had soared and kids ran wild at night. The agency demanded corrective actions — improvements that former employees say were in large part ultimately abandoned. Equally troubling, former staffers report a pattern that echoes the events surrounding the deaths of Brendan Blum and Lindsey Poteet at other CRC facilities: When patients face a medical crisis, ambulances are usually not summoned. Instead, “techs,” whose emergency training, the former employees say, is generally limited to a two-hour CPR course, are ordered by supervisors to use a van lacking medical equipment to drive patients to the emergency room in nearby Santa Cruz. The tactic, say former employees, helps prevent the facility from being flagged in the 911 system, risking unwelcome attention from state or local officials. The administrative resistance to calling 911 was so pronounced that when one overmedicated, mentally disturbed patient fled the facility in hysterics one summer day in 2008, she was left to lie on the road outside the gate, screaming for help before collapsing into convulsions. One camp executive told staff on duty at the time, “Leave her alone. We don’t want to make a scene,” according to Bottoroff and other former staffers. It was left to neighbors to call 911. Nevertheless, the camp still makes more emergency calls than any comparable facility in the Santa Cruz area, according to addiction and ER doctors who reviewed 911 log data we obtained — perhaps a measure of just how ill many of the patients are at this nonmedical facility. That log showed 158 calls between January 2008 and August 2011. “That’s a lot of calls,” a local government official says. “It ought to be investigated.” Logged 911 calls represent only a small portion of total ER visits, the official observes, because it doesn’t account for people who arrive by other means. Camp Recovery’s drive for secrecy was especially pronounced when it came to potential instances of sexual misconduct, violence or drug use among the adolescents in treatment, former staffers say. “There were several situations in which we were told by the director of the adolescent unit, per [current executive director] James Bailey, not to call 911,” says Bottoroff. Former staffers speak of wild nighttime teen assaults on weaker youth or even staff, and recount hushed-up incidents of underage girls having sex with adult male patients at their cabins. “They were trading favors for cigarettes and alcohol,” Bottoroff says of one such incident she encountered. In almost all such cases of on-site crime, according to an employee complaint to state regulators, the orders handed down from Stearns, the former executive director, in 2009 were clear: “We don’t contact the police.” State investigators were rarely able confirm the most serious employee allegations on the few occasions when they bothered to investigate, a review of state reports shows. But this could be due to efforts by managers to cover their tracks. Trevor Bottoroff, a former Camp Recovery counselor and Shawn’s husband, says that sometimes managers would rewrite log sheets to make them seem more benign. At other times, supervisors would simply remove them. Murphy, the camp’s former adolescent director, came to see CRC as “the slumlords of treatment.” Other evasions are commonplace at Camp Recovery. The camp openly advertises that it offers prescription-based medical detox, though it is not licensed as a medical facility to do so. A failure of oversight But such complaints against CRC have rarely led to consequences for either their drug treatment or youth programs. The troubled teen industry in particular is a regulatory Wild West, with some states lacking any licensing system at all for these residential programs. Even some states that do license, such as Utah, appear unable to guarantee patient safety: about 10 young people are known to have died since 1990 while attending Utah residential and wilderness programs. Regulators often shield the teen care industry from genuine scrutiny, according to investigations by the GAO, congressional hearings in 2007 and 2008, and reports by such mental health advocates as the Bazelon Center and Mental Health America. In California, regulation of drug treatment facilities appears especially ineffective. California’s Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, for example, has never investigated the deaths of nearly 200 patients over five years at CRC’s 12 outpatient methadone clinics. Mostly likely, addiction experts say, the clients’ rampant substance abuse is the culprit, not sloppy practices at CRC, but that supposition has not been rigorously tested. In fact, Pennsylvania regulators cited two of CRC’s methadone clinics for failing to properly screen patients for drugs or narcotic use, a potentially deadly oversight. Weiner, the CRC spokesperson, said that CRC itself would doubtless look into any client deaths: “At least somebody’s going to wonder why they didn’t come in for their treatment the next day.” “The programs have experienced the reality that there are no consequences if anyone dies,” says a knowledgeable ex-government official about California’s drug programs, including CRC’s methadone clinics, which have become the chain’s cash cow. With nearly 27,000 daily clients nationwide at 54 outpatient clinics, CRC founder Barry Karlin was dubbed by Treatment magazine “America’s Methadone King.” Loose oversight seems to have been critical in enabling CRC to flourish. It’s hard to imagine, in particular, that without the scandalously weak monitoring of the teen treatment industry CRC’s Aspen division would be able to continue its harshly regimented, unproven behavior-modification methods and dicey emergency protocols. “Without regulations and enforcement, this profitable industry will continue to have actors that present unacceptable risks to the children they serve,” U.S. Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., said last year when introducing a federal oversight bill. A culture of abuse and neglect? This apparent lack of oversight in the teen industry, combined with a widespread view by providers that their charges are manipulative troublemakers, has allowed a toxic culture of psychological abuse and medical neglect to prevail, according to parents, alumni and federal officials. As Greg Kutz, a GAO investigator, said in testimony about the industry in general before Congress, “It seemed that the only way program managers would believe they [the students] were not faking it is if they stopped breathing or did not have a pulse.” That culture is visible even at Aspen’s most upscale residential programs, such as Island View in suburban Syracuse, Utah. One former student there, Colleen Davidson, now 20, who graduated from the program in 2009, recalls her alarm when she coughed up blood one morning as she stood at the bathroom sink. She says she was never allowed to see a doctor because by the time the nurse wandered by a few hours later, another student had rinsed the blood from the sink. “They assume you’re lying,” she says. For months, CRC denied me press access to any of its facilities, so I visited Island View last August posing as a father of a troubled girl. During that visit, director Laura Burt confirmed this skeptical stance toward potential medical emergencies. She said the nursing staff would see my daughter immediately in case of a medical crisis but would monitor her if they suspected fakery: “We’re not going to rush her to the hospital if she’s just saying that and there is nothing that says it.” In March 2008, Duane Bernard rescued his son Matthew, then 16, from another Aspen program, Adirondack Leadership Expedition in Saranac Lake, N.Y., after gleaning from one of his son’s monitored letters the brutal conditions he was enduring. Matthew, who was sent to Adirondack by his mother during a custody dispute, later told his father of food deprivation, neglect of serious medical complaints, and cruel taunting by instructors, including an incident when field staff pressured one kid to lick clean a urine-soaked cup. Medical neglect, Duane Bernard says, was ingrained in Adirondack’s get-tough “wilderness therapy.” Father and son say that during Matthew’s monthlong stay, he was required to go camping in subfreezing weather with too-thin clothing and sleeping gear, and he soon developed severe numbness and frostbite in his right foot. But he wasn’t taken to an urgent care facility until shortly before his release and required eight months of medical treatment afterward. Duane Bernard wrote in April 2008 to state officials alleging child abuse, enclosing Matthew’s written descriptions of his alleged maltreatment, but the state’s child protection agency said it had no jurisdiction over Adirondack. “They blew us off,” Bernard says. I heard Matthew’s experience echoed in conversation after conversation with Aspen alums, many of whom suffer nightmares and PTSD-like symptoms. Hannah Sangillo of Bethesda, Md., now 19, ended up at SUWS of the Carolinas, Aspen’s showcase wilderness program in North Carolina’s breathtaking Pisgah National Forest, in 2010. She now considers her 49-day summer stay “child abuse.” She recounts one of several instances of heat exhaustion she experienced during hours-long hikes designed to promote self-reliance and personal growth. Even on scorching, humid days, when temperatures soared into the mid-90s, groups of girls were saddled with 60-pound-plus packs, exceeding Girl Scout safety guidelines. “I was not able to walk straight,” she says of one incident. “I was stumbling and sweating profusely. I kept telling people I needed to stop and they said: ‘No, we can’t stop yet.’” She temporarily blacked out, only to be dragged to her feet by fellow campers and prodded along the trail at the urging of what SUWS calls its “highly trained” field instructors. By the end of the summer ordeal, nearly half of her small team of girls had collapsed during hikes, she says, without receiving any medical attention. Throughout their time there, neither Sangillo nor Hannah Spungen, a 2007 SUWS graduate, ever saw a single staffer actually help young residents with medical problems. These included everything from heroin withdrawal to all-night vomiting caused by drinking from fecal-contaminated streams during their daily hikes. Before I interviewed the two alumni, I met with Shawn Farrell, executive director of SUWS of the Carolinas, who insisted to me that emergency care is a top priority. (Subsequently, CRC declined to answer any questions about allegations of medical neglect at this SUWS program. Shawn Farrell, the executive director of SUWS of the Carolinas, insisted to me that emergency care is a top priority. He says field staff are instructed to radio in symptoms of any injuries or illness immediately to the base camp’s field medic and, if needed, arrange transport to a hospital only eight miles away. “We want the doctors to do the diagnosis,” not the outdoors staff, he says. But this policy appears to falls apart in the execution. In Spungen’s experience, “There’s no protocol in place to make sure it’s safe for you.” These incidents seem to illuminate an institutional culture that allowed Sergey Blashchishen to die in 2009 before ever receiving emergency medical aid. As one government investigator told me about the field instructors at SageWalk, where Blashchishen died, “They were highly trained, but the culture overrode that.” The SageWalk Field Instructor Manual — like other Aspen manuals, vetted by CRC, according to a former CRC official — requires staff to go through a rigid “chain of command” before emergency help can be summoned. “There are inherent delays in a system like this,” the investigator observed. CRC spokesman Weiner defended those procedures: “If there’s a [medical] issue they should go to the top supervisors,” he said. “I don’t see how that’s wrong to make sure you’re doing the right thing. That’s why they’re not the boss.” Yet Weiner also insisted that CRC is “aware of complaints and problems at Aspen and wants to make sure it has the best practices possible.” To that end, he pointed to a recent initiative by CRC to ensure that all its teen programs are certified by two leading accrediting agencies, CARF (the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and a body known as the Joint Commission, a 60-year-old industry-funded nonprofit that accredits thousands of health care programs in the United States. This is perhaps of scant comfort, given that members of Congress harshly criticized the Joint Commission in the wake of revelations of medical negligence at Walter Reed and other Joint Commission–accredited hospitals. Moreover, many facilities in one of the most notorious chains in the teen treatment field, Straight Inc., were approved by accrediting agencies, including the Joint Commission, until they shut down in the wake of lawsuits and state action. Some maintained their high ratings even after Straight Inc. and several of its spinoffs were hit by state investigations and at least 90 lawsuits alleging abuse. No turnaround from the turnaround experts Despite the accumulating lawsuits, state investigations and even criminal inquiries, Bain Capital has yet to force a major shake-up in the culture or leadership of CRC. Aspen co-founder Elliot Sainer and CRC CEO Barry Karlin remained in their executive posts until they retired in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Both now serve on the CRC board of directors. Trina Packard, the executive in charge at Youth Care when Brendan Blum died, remains in her post to this day. Rather than instituting reforms, CRC seems to have responded to the series of lawsuits, in part, by requiring parents to sign elaborate contracts that feature sweeping “hold harmless” clauses even in the case of death. “This is a business-driven model: caveat emptor,” one Utah Education Department official conceded on background. The contracts leave parents like Julie Scheule, a Wisconsin mom, with little recourse when they suspect deception or abuse. In 2007, she sent her daughter, then 15, to an Aspen facility in Utah, since closed, called Aspen Ranch. Aspen, she now charges, “abused parental trust, abused our bank account, and abused the kids in their care.” She had a change of heart when she realized she was being hit with thousands of dollars in extra costs and flew to the ranch to remove her daughter. She recalls her daughter hugging her, trembling, and saying, “Please mama, take me out of here.” Aspen uses what the teen treatment industry calls a “levels” model that grants more privileges and freedoms as students follow the rules, but imposes sanctions of varying severity on those who slip up or disobey. Punishments were more often psychological than physical. According to former students, emotionally brutal isolation punishments and peer-driven encounter “therapies” were commonly employed to break down resistance, especially at Island View. For Colleen Davidson, the former student there who coughed up blood, the worst part was when students were prodded to confront each other about real or fabricated transgressions in harsh encounter sessions. (In fact, she says, they were very similar to the group therapies cited in the June “torture” lawsuit against Turn-About Ranch.) The sessions were so terrifying that girls resorted to desperate measures to avoid attending, according to Davidson. She recalls that some girls choked themselves to induce fainting; one rubbed feces in her own eyes to cause an infection. “They break you down, but they don’t really build you back up,” she says of the Island View approach. “I have nightmares from it, and the memories are really awful.” The no-data zone CRC declined to address any program-specific allegations. A company spokesperson, Kristen Hayes, instead summed up the company’s approach in a written statement: “Our mission is to bring best practices to our industry in clinical excellence and quality patient care,” she wrote by email. “Our comprehensive risk and compliance protocols help to ensure the delivery of the safest, proven treatment processes.” CRC has said that its teen care programs are based on recognized and evidence-based programs, including one called contingency management. But critics suggest that the approach as actually applied by Aspen is inconsistent with contingency management — which emphasizes primarily positive reinforcement — while alumni and lawsuits filed over the years by parents of former teen patients describe instead a distorted atmosphere of terror and punishment that undercuts their possible utility. But there are virtually no independent, well-designed, peer-reviewed studies showing that any residential programs for troubled teens actually work — and none at all for the behavior-modification approaches employed by Aspen. Research funded by the Department of Justice and a literature review by the NIH both found, in the context of youth violence and crime prevention, that get-tough, discipline-based approaches generally do more harm than good. Shy of evidence, CRC’s PR machine offers up testimonials from pleased parents and CRC-funded surveys of parents and students that report positive outcomes. Hayes put me in touch with one of these parents, the mother of a self-destructive, drug-abusing 15-year-old son whom she sent to Island View, the Aspen program Colleen Davidson attended, after other treatments had failed. “I didn’t want to stand around and wait for my child to die,” she says bluntly. Enrolling him in Aspen, she says, was the turning point. “I wish all kids were as lucky as my son,” she says. And what can’t be washed away by good PR can always be described as an unavoidable tragedy. At Youth Care of Utah, admissions counselor Claire Roberts offered up this sort of soft-focus gloss when she told me about the death of Brendan Blum. “It was very traumatizing for us,” she said. Then she added philosophically, “These things happen.” No plausible deniability Mitt Romney may not know the details of Brendan Blum’s death, but it is difficult to imagine he wouldn’t be aware of the troubles facing CRC and the residential teen-treatment industry as a whole. Not only are two of his major campaign donors, Connaughton and Barnes, on CRC’s board, but two of his key advisors, Robert Lichfield and Mel Sembler, faced firestorms after allegations of abuse emerged regarding their own residential treatment chains. Meanwhile, Ann Romney has said that she would make helping troubled teens a top priority as first lady. And CRC is roaring ahead with an expanded sales force; Eckert, the CEO, told investors in May, “We now have [sales] coverage in every major metropolitan area in the United States.” The Romney campaign did not respond to queries about his investment in CRC. But candidate Romney has been outspoken about his belief that for-profit health care companies can flourish only without onerous regulations. “I had the occasion of actually acquiring and trying to build health care businesses,” he said during a primary debate last year. “I know something about it, and I believe markets work. And what’s wrong with our health care system in America is that government is playing too heavy a role.” Crystal Manganaro likely has a different view. She is the mother of Matthew Meyer, the 14-year-old who died at Aspen’s Lone Star program in 2004, and has forcefully advocated for a federal crackdown on teen residential programs, including those run by Aspen. “For those of you who have not lived through losing a child due to negligence, you just cannot imagine what it feels like unless you have walked through it and deal with it every day of your life,” she said in 2009. “My son is dead and there is nothing I can do about that, but I’ll be damned if my son died in vain.”

From Forbes magazine: For fiscal year 2010, federal funding for PBS through CPB accounted for about 12% of PBS’ revenue. In terms of dollars, that works out to about $300 million. There’s not much wiggle room to be had: the money that actually goes to CPB is split according to a mostly statutory formula. For 2015, Congress has budgeted $445 million for CPB. How many more subsidies can we cut out to save millions. I'd like just one million dollars to fund my family.

February 27, 1993: WTC Engineer Says Building Would Survive Jumbo Jet Hitting It In the wake of the WTC bombing, the Seattle Times interviews John Skilling who was one of the two structural engineers responsible for designing the Trade Center. Skilling recounts his people having carried out an analysis which found the Twin Towers could withstand the impact of a Boeing 707. He says, “Our analysis indicated the biggest problem would be the fact that all the fuel (from the airplane) would dump into the building. There would be a horrendous fire. A lot of people would be killed.” But, he says, “The building structure would still be there.” [Seattle Times, 2/27/1993] The analysis Skilling is referring to is likely one done in early 1964, during the design phase of the towers. A three-page white paper, dated February 3, 1964, described its findings: “The buildings have been investigated and found to be safe in an assumed collision with a large jet airliner (Boeing 707—DC 8) traveling at 600 miles per hour. Analysis indicates that such collision would result in only local damage which could not cause collapse or substantial damage to the building and would not endanger the lives and safety of occupants not in the immediate area of impact.” However, besides this paper, no documents are known detailing how this analysis was made. [Glanz and Lipton, 2004, pp. 131-132; Lew, Bukowski, and Carino, 10/2005, pp. 70-71] The other structural engineer who designed the towers, Leslie Robertson, carried out a second study later in 1964, of how the towers would handle the impact of a 707 (see Between September 3, 2001 and September 7, 2001). However, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), following its three-year investigation into the WTC collapses, will in 2005 state that it has been “unable to locate any evidence to indicate consideration of the extent of impact-induced structural damage or the size of a fire that could be created by thousands of gallons of jet fuel.” [National Institute of Standards and Technology, 9/2005, pp. 13 pdf file] (Between October 15 and November 21, 2000): FBI Bin Laden Expert Warns of Al-Qaeda Threat to WTC Pat Patterson.Pat Patterson. [Source: Publicity photo]Los Angeles FBI agent Pat Patterson is sent to Yemen to assist in the investigation of the USS Cole bombing (see October 14-Late November, 2000). While there, he spends several evenings with John O’Neill, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s national security division in New York, who is leading the investigation. O’Neill is the FBI’s top expert on al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. The two men speculate about what bin Laden’s next target might be, and end up considering the World Trade Center. Patterson will later recall: “I thought it was unlikely they would hit a target a second time, but John was convinced of it. He said, ‘No, they definitely want to bring that building down.’ He just had that sense and was insistent about it.” [New York Magazine, 12/17/2001; Weiss, 2003, pp. 291-292 and 321] After leaving the FBI, O’Neill will actually start work as director of security for the World Trade Center shortly before 9/11 (see August 23, 2001). [Source: Publicity photo]Leslie Robertson, one of the two original structural engineers for the World Trade Center, is asked at a conference in Frankfurt, Germany what he had done to protect the Twin Towers from terrorist attacks. He replies, “I designed it for a 707 to smash into it,” though does not elaborate further. [Chicago Tribune, 9/12/2001; Knight Ridder, 9/12/2001] The Twin Towers were in fact the first structures outside the military and nuclear industries designed to resist the impact of a jet airplane. [Robertson, 3/2002; Federal Emergency Management Agency, 5/1/2002, pp. 1-17] The Boeing 707 was the largest in use when the towers were designed. Robertson conducted a study in late 1964, to calculate the effect of a 707 weighing 263,000 pounds and traveling at 180 mph crashing into one of the towers. He concluded that the tower would remain standing. However, no official report of his study has ever surfaced publicly. [Glanz and Lipton, 2004, pp. 138-139, 366] A previous analysis, carried out early in 1964, calculated that the towers would handle the impact of a 707 traveling at 600 mph without collapsing (see February 27, 1993). In 2002, though, Robertson will write, “To the best of our knowledge, little was known about the effects of a fire from such an aircraft, and no designs were prepared for that circumstance.” [Robertson, 3/2002] The planes that hit the WTC on 9/11 are 767s, which are almost 20 percent heavier than 707s. Committee on Science, 3/6/2002] He examines numerous pieces of steel taken from Ground Zero. [Chronicle of Higher Education, 12/7/2001] Astaneh-Asl will describe the WTC as “the best-designed building I have ever seen.” [San Francisco Chronicle, 10/22/2001] Yet he notices unusual warping and other damage in its remaining steel: bullet At a recycling center in New Jersey, he sees 10-ton steel beams from the towers that look “like giant sticks of twisted licorice.” [Chronicle of Higher Education, 12/7/2001] He shows the San Francisco Chronicle a “banana-shaped, rust-colored piece of steel” that has “twisted like toffee during the terrorist attack.” [San Francisco Chronicle, 10/22/2001] bullet He later recalls, “I saw melting of girders in [the] World Trade Center.” [PBS, 5/10/2007] bullet He notes that steel has bent at several connection points that had joined the floors of the WTC to the vertical columns. He describes the connections as being smoothly warped, saying, “If you remember the Salvador Dali paintings with the clocks that are kind of melted—it’s kind of like that.” He adds, “That could only happen if you get steel yellow hot or white hot—perhaps around 2,000 degrees.” [Chronicle of Higher Education, 12/7/2001] bullet Astaneh-Asl says that steel flanges have been reduced “from an inch thick to paper thin.” [Berkeleyan, 10/3/2001] bullet He finds a foot-long twisted shard of steel that is “like a piece of bread, but it was high-strength steel.” He comments, “I haven’t seen anything like this [before].” [Berkeley Daily Planet, 10/20/2001] bullet He finds “severely scorched [steel] members from 40 or so floors below the points of impact [by the planes].” He believes this is the result of the planes having destroyed the elevator walls, thereby allowing burning jet fuel to pour down into the building, igniting fires hundreds of feet below the impact floors. [CBS News, 3/12/2002] bullet He says that, in some places, the fireproofing used to protect the WTC steel has “melted into a glassy residue.” [New York Times, 10/2/2001] bullet Astaneh-Asl sees a charred I-beam from WTC Building 7, which collapsed late in the afternoon of 9/11. “The beam, so named because its cross-section looks like a capital I, had clearly endured searing temperatures. Parts of the flat top of the I, once five-eighths of an inch thick, had vaporized.” [New York Times, 10/2/2001] Other individuals will report seeing molten metal in the remains of the World Trade Center in the weeks and months after 9/11 (see September 12, 2001-February 2002), and data collected by NASA reveals dozens of “hot spots” (some over 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit) at Ground Zero (see September 16-23, 2001). But Thomas Eagar—an engineering professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology—later comments that the “temperature of the fire at the WTC [on 9/11] was not unusual, and it was most definitely not capable of melting steel.” [Eagar and Musso, 12/2001] Yet Astaneh-Asl will later put forward the “tentative” conclusion, “The collapse of the [Twin Towers] was most likely due to the intense fire initiated by the jet fuel of the planes and continued due to burning of the building contents.” [Astaneh-Asl, 11/30/2003 pdf file] Astaneh-Asl is a member of the team assembled by the American Society of Civil Engineers to investigate the World Trade Center site after 9/11 (see September 12, 2001), though he will resign from this because he disagrees with its decision to keep findings secret until the initial inquiry has been completed. maybe mitt the bully won round one,but that dose not mean that he will win all the debates,or the presidency.this happens in campaignes.ups and downs.what i seen is that mitt romney is a skilled manipulater,he's the one that thinks he is intitled to show,no taxes, lying about bain capitial, outsourced jobs, and now he's decided he wants to be president.america dose not need a job outsourcer to run this country.pres.obama is much more honest than mitt romney.he laid out substance about what he's going to do and he deserves a second term for what he has done so far.and he looks presidential.at all times obama is about red white blue and you.mitt romney is about red white and screw you.wake up and do some research on BAIN!! read rolling stone magazine sept.13th edition and read about mitt romney and bain.if you do this,i think will not want mitt romney to run this country.WAKE UP AMERICA!!

DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS? I SURE DIDNT TILL NOW Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death! Make a personal reflection about this....... Very interesting, read until the end...... It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): 'Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap.. Here are some men and women who mocked God : John Lennon (Singer): Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said: 'Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that... I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him' (1966). Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said:'God, that's for you.' He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner. The man who built the Titanic After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: 'Not even God can sink it' The result:I think you all know what happened to the Titanic Marilyn Monroe (Actress) She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: 'I don't need your Jesus'. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment Bon Scott (Singer) The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC.. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: 'Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit. Campinas (IN 2005) In Campinas , Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend..... The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: 'My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.' She responded: 'Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here.....It's Already Full ' Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle. Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive. 'Jesus' PS: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to send this?. I have done my part, Jesus said 'If you are embarrassed about me, I will also be embarrassed about you before my father.' You are my 8 in 8 seconds. I am not breaking this. No way! I'M TOLD THIS WORKS!!!!! Bishop T.D. Jakes '8 Second Prayer.' Just repeat this prayer and see how God moves!! 'Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, and bless me, my family, my home, and my friends, in Jesus' name. Amen.' Pass this message to 8 people {EXCEPT YOU AND ME}....You will receive a miracle tomorrow. I Hope that you don't ignore and let God bless you.

got this as an email from my friend Ritchie and just had to share; it's a bit lengthy but well worth the read... THE OBAMA TIMELINE by Don Fredrick, ©2012, blogging at The Obama Timeline (Oct. 1, 2012) — As I noted in the introduction to my book, The Obama Timeline, a jury at a murder trial will often find the accumulated circumstantial evidence so overwhelming that a guilty verdict is obvious—even though there may be no witness to the crime. “The jurors in the Scott Peterson trial believed the collection of evidence more than they believed Scott Peterson. Among other things, the jury thought that being arrested with $15,000 in cash, recently-dyed hair, a newly-grown goatee, four cell phones, camping equipment, a map to a new girlfriend’s house, a gun, and his brother’s driver’s license certainly did not paint a picture of a grieving husband who had nothing to do with his pregnant wife’s disappearance and murder.” In the four years I have been gathering information about—and evidence against—Barack Hussein Obama, I have encountered hundreds of coincidences that strike me as amazing. None of those coincidences, by themselves, may mean much. But taken as a whole it is almost impossible to believe they were all the result of chance. Consider the Obama-related coincidences: Obama just happened to know 60s far-left radical revolutionary William Ayers, whose father just happened to be Thomas Ayers, who just happened to be a close friend of Obama’s communist mentor Frank Marshall Davis, who just happened to work at the communist-sympathizing Chicago Defender with Vernon Jarrett, who just happened to later become the father-in-law of Iranian-born leftist Valerie Jarrett, who Obama just happened to choose as his closest White House advisor, and who just happened to have been CEO of Habitat Company, which just happened to manage public housing in Chicago, which just happened to get millions of dollars from the Illinois state legislature, and which just happened not to properly maintain the housing—which eventually just happened to require demolition. Valerie Jarrett also just happened to work for the city of Chicago, and just happened to hire Michelle LaVaughan Robinson (later Obama), who just happened to have worked at the Sidley Austin law firm, where former fugitive from the FBI Bernardine Dohrn also just happened to work, and where Barack Obama just happened to get a summer job. Bernardine Dohrn just happened to be married to William Ayers, with whom she just happened to have hidden from the FBI at a San Francisco marina, along with Donald Warden, who just happened to change his name to Khalid al-Mansour, and Warden/al-Mansour just happened to be a mentor of Black Panther Party founders Huey Newton and Bobby Seale and a close associate of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and al-Mansour just happened to be financial adviser to a Saudi Prince, who just happened to donate cash to Harvard, for which Obama just happened to get a critical letter of recommendation from Percy Sutton, who just happened to have been the attorney for Malcolm X, who just happened to know Kenyan politician Tom Mboya, who just happened to be a close friend of Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., who just happened to meet Malcolm X when he traveled to Kenya. Obama, Sr. just happened to have his education at the University of Hawaii paid for by the Laubach Literacy Institute, which just happened to have been supported by Elizabeth Mooney Kirk, who just happened to be a friend of Malcolm X, who just happened to have been associated with the Nation of Islam, which was later headed by Louis Farrakhan, who just happens to live very close to Obama’s Chicago mansion, which also just happens to be located very close to the residence of William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who just happen to have been occasional baby-sitters for Malia and Natasha Obama, whose parents just happen not to mind exposing their daughters to bomb-making communists. After attending Occidental College and Columbia University, where he just happened to have foreign Muslim roommates, Obama moved to Chicago to work for the Industrial Areas Foundation, an organization that just happened to have been founded by Marxist and radical agitator Saul “the Red” Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals, who just happened to be the topic of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s thesis at Wellesley College, and Obama’s $25,000 salary at IAF just happened to be funded by a grant from the Woods Fund, which was founded by the Woods family, whose Sahara Coal company just happened to provide coal to Commonwealth Edison, whose CEO just happened to be Thomas Ayers, whose son William Ayers just happened to serve on the board of the Woods Fund, along with Obama. Obama also worked on voter registration drives in Chicago in the 1980s and just happened to work with leftist political groups like the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and Socialist International (SI), through which Obama met Carl Davidson, who just happened to travel to Cuba during the Vietnam War to sabotage the U.S. war effort, and who just happened to be a former member of the SDS and a member of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, which just happened to sponsor a 2002 anti-war rally at which Obama spoke, and which just happened to have been organized by Marilyn Katz, a former SDS activist and later public relations consultant who just happened to be a long-time friend of Obama’s political hatchet man, David Axelrod. Obama joined Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC), whose pastor was Reverend Jeremiah Wright, a fiery orator who just happened to preach Marxism and Black Liberation Theology and who delivered anti-white, anti-Jew, and anti-American sermons, which Obama just happened never to hear because he just happened to miss church only on the days when Wright was at his “most enthusiastic,” and Obama just happened never to notice that Oprah Winfrey left the church because it was too radical, and just happened never to notice that the church gave the vile anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan a lifetime achievement award. Although no one had ever heard of him at the time, Obama just happened to receive an impossible-to-believe $125,000 advance to write a book about race relations, which he just happened to fail to write while using the cash to vacation in Bali with his wife Michelle, and despite his record of non-writing he just happened to receive a second advance, for $40,000, from another publisher, and he eventually completed a manuscript called Dreams >From My Father, which just happened to strongly reflect the writing style of William Ayers, who just happened to trample on an American flag for the cover photograph of the popular Chicago magazine, which Obama just happened never to see even though it appeared on newsstands throughout the city. Obama was hired by the law firm Miner, Banhill and Galland, which just happened to specialize in negotiating state government contracts to develop low-income housing, and which just happened to deal with now-imprisoned Tony Rezko and his firm Rezar, and with slumlord Valerie Jarrett, and the law firm’s Judson Miner just happened to have been a classmate of Bernardine Dohrn, wife of William Ayers. In 1994 Obama represented ACORN and another plaintiff in a lawsuit against Citibank for denying mortgages to blacks (Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Federal Savings Bank), and the lawsuit just happened to result in banks being blackmailed into approving subprime loans for poor credit risks, a trend which just happened to spread nationwide, and which just happened to lead to the collapse of the housing bubble, which just happened to help Obama defeat John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.

Known as the “champion of vertebrate regeneration”, the Mexican aquatic salamander Ambystoma mexicanum has the ability to regenerate its spinal cord, limbs, internal organs and brain. Because axolotls and humans share about 90% of their genes, researchers are trying to identify the mechanisms that control the salamander’s organ regeneration process to develop new spinal cord treatments for humans. John R. Rice was the famous southern evangelist who started the "Sword of the Lord" magazine. Some of his readers, who trusted his judgment, wrote to him and were concerned about whether they needed to pray a blessing over just a snack when out in a restaurant, or should one only pray when it is a meal. He answered and said that one should say Grace if the stuff costs more than twenty-five cents!

    Vern was a great guy

Our favorite creative genius Vern Dailey passed away this morning. He graced the pages of County Line Magazine almost from its very beginning 12 years ago. He was responsible for bringing smiles and imagination to kids and big kids alike there and prior to that on the Mr. Peppermint Show for more than 35 years. He was an award-winning songwriter as well. His awards for his work in a number of genres are numerous and he's been featured on Texas Country Reporter and Proud of East Texas. In 2007 he was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for 25 plus years of outstanding contributions to the Television Broadcasting Community. His list of talents and accomplishments could fill many pages. To us, he was just Vern, a very talented man who lifted our spirits every time a batch of his cartoons arrived in our mailbox, envelope covered with humorous illustrations and commentary. He will be missed. RIP Vern.

Royal Crown Productions Announces Upcoming Feature Film of the Book of Revelation IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 4, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Royal Crown Productions announced today plans to create a full length, computer animated motion picture of the Biblical Book of Revelation, in conjunction with an extended online video study series of Revelation. "Revelation is the only book in the Bible that specifically promises a blessing to those that read it and those that share it," says Nathan Gopen, president of Royal Crown Productions. "Therefore we have always held this work with highest regard, and continually strive to bring a richer immersive experience to the vision John wrote about." Under the trade name Diadem Productions, Gopen had previously brought to market a highly acclaimed, interactive multimedia Bible Study CD-ROM of the book of Revelation, which Christian Computing Magazine called "A Shining Example of What Multimedia is all About". Now that CG technology has improved significantly and become more affordable to the smaller independent companies, Gopen sees an opportunity for the culmination of his vision of how to present Revelation - through the medium of a full length feature film. The movie will be produced over a 2 year period. Royal Crown is utilizing a unique approach to funding the project, by creating a membership based, online portal where a large community of believers who are excited about the project, will be able to participate in a group extended video study of Revelation, as well as have VIP access to see the segments of the movie as they are produced. Their nominal membership fee will help fund the project, and they will be rewarded with a deeper and richer understanding and experience of Revelation that ever before possible. Information and early access sign-up forms are available on the web site, at: www.revelationmovie.org. As the study has wide appeal and provides a great opportunity to supplement or enhance existing teachings, Bible teachers and Pastors are encouraged to visit the site and sign up for information on how the Revelation movie and online study can integrate with their existing ministries. Future plans for Royal Crown include an interactive 3D Bible World web portal, several epic Biblical motion pictures, Christian computer games and study tools, music, and other productions that utilize Royal Crown's expertise in leading edge software development, 3D and motion graphics. Royal Crown Productions, a high-technology Christian multimedia production company, can be found on the World-Wide Web at: www.royalcrownproductions.com. Quote: "We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years." He went on to explain: "It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries." -- David Rockefeller, Speaking at the June, 1991 Bilderberger meeting in Baden, Germany (a meeting also attended by then-Governor Bill Clinton and by Dan Quayle

Dr. Abolhassan Astaneh-Asl is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He specializes in studying structural damage done by earthquakes and terrorist bombings. [Chronicle of Higher Education, 12/7/2001; CBS News, 3/11/2002] He arrives in New York on September 19 to conduct a two-week scientific reconnaissance of the collapsed towers, hoping to gain an understanding of how they had come down. His project is one of eight financed by the National Science Foundation to study the WTC disaster. [New York Times, 10/2/2001; Berkeleyan, 10/3/2001; US Congress. House. A letter from Gov. Brown: "Dear Jamie, My friend and the Valley’s Congressman, Howard Berman, needs our help. Because of redistricting, Howard is locked in a tough re-election battle against a fellow Democrat. I know Howard. I’ve seen him in action. And let me tell you, there is no one like him in the Congress. Howard Berman has made a tremendously positive impact on the lives of working families here in California. From protecting our environment and preserving our parklands, to modernizing our freeways and waterways, to writing the law allowing women to take maternity leave, Howard gets the job done. And right now, he needs our help to get a job done for him. Help me help Howard's campaign hit their $50,000 grassroots goal with a contribution of $100, $250, $500 or more. Can you help him out with a contribution today? Howard doesn't just talk the talk, he gets things done. He's been the driving force behind laws that have increased intellectual property rights and strengthened anti-piracy laws, which are critical to Valley jobs. And when it comes to protecting America’s interest abroad -- all eyes turn to Howard Berman. Just this month, the highly regarded Foreign Policy Magazine ranked Howard as the most influential House Democrat on foreign affairs. He also knows something about fiscal responsibility. That’s why he crafted the most successful anti-fraud law in decades that stopped dishonest contractors from wasting over $30 billion of our tax dollars. With everything that is wrong with Washington these days, Howard Berman is the right person to break through the logjam and deliver for the Valley and our community. I told Howard he can count us. Please help Howard today by donating $100, $250, or even $500. Anything you can give now will go a long way to helping him win re-election. Best Regards Jerry Brown California Governor"

"The American dream has become a myth," Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize-winning economics professor at Columbia University, told the German news magazine Der Spiegel in an interview published Tuesday. "The belief in the American dream is not supported by the data." There's evidence to support such claims. The U.S. has less economic mobility than Canada and much of Western Europe, according to economic research cited by The New York Times. Seven in ten Americans that start out in the bottom fifth of family income stay in the lower class as adults, and more than six in ten Americans that start out in the top family income quintile stay in the upper class as adults. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/03/joseph-stiglitz-american-dream_n_193... Saw this and had to post it! It is all soooooooo true! You know you're a mom when: You get more excited about buying a new toilet than a piece of fine jewelry. You don’t hesitate in the least to swipe a booger from your child’s nose with your finger. You know all the words to the Caillou and Blue’s Clues theme songs. You cut up your spouse’s food in little pieces. You forego buying badly needed new underwear for yourself in exchange for an adorable little outfit for your child. You can’t remember the last time you painted your toenails. You can unfold a stroller in two seconds flat! You’re ecstatic when fruit snacks are 2-for-1 at the store -- and you have a coupon! You give up your subscription to Cosmopolitan and get a three-year subscription to Parenting magazine. Your favorite piece of jewelry says "Mommy" on it, and only cost $10. Your washing machine never stops running. There’s always a "surprise" under the couch or in the cushions (which you discover by following the odor)! The dog no longer comes in the house when the kids are awake. You have thousands of photos of your kids, but not a single one of yourself. Your comfy flannel pajamas look much more appealing than your naughty lingerie. You buy bargain furniture because you won’t feel as bad when the kids destroy it. You can’t wait to escape your troublesome toddler for an evening out, and then miss him/her terribly within the first half-hour. You put your child’s name on the preschool waiting list -- and she’s only six weeks old!
